Morning boys.  Cold and a calm -3 here today.  Too cold to go get wood so will find some other things to keep me out of trouble here on the ranch.  Will give the horses some oats and fire up the wood burner at least.  Gonna get more temp friendly tomorrow so will kick into a higher gear then.  LOL  Makes me think I should cook something today.

A little frost here this morning at 34. Should reach a high in the mtd 60's today. Well I better get at it if I'm going to get in the woods later on.
Have a good one.

Mornin boys,  20 here but that almost 20 mph NW wind makes it feel like 4, 'sposed to see 35 later.  The rooftops & yards have a white tint to 'em too but that's it for the snow. I'm seein 50s for tomorrow & upper 60s for Friday with a chance of some more white stuff , <1", overnight. I've already been out the hospital to get some blood work done for a late April appt. 'Bout it here, have a great day.

Just read the LOW report.  I have 30" of solid hard ice here at my place.  They said the open water is almost to the Frontier landing.  That is 15 miles from me.  Some years it may take a day or two for it to get here from there.  May take a little longer this year.  BUT when the river starts to go it goes.  It doesn't seem to matter how much ice there is.  SO beef stew pieces are thawing in the microwave.  Once it is browned and in the pot me and the boys will be taking a ride looking for open water.  One of my favorite spring rituals.

Mornin' comrades! 11 at choretime heading for a high in the upper 20's. After seeing some of the other low temps here I feel better altho I'm sure it's probably 30 degrees warmer where roony's picking mushrooms & playing the banjo. Another webinar coming up at 9 so getting mentally prepared for that. One of presenters is a douche so that always has me making comments about the out of touch political hack this "researcher" has become. He got tenure, now we're stuck with him & his garbage research. Oh well, it's only our tax dollars. Get thru the webinar, get cleaned up & spend most of the day at the office after that. Against my better judgement, think I'll take the snow blower off and move a round bale into the ewes with lambs lot tonite. Feeding small square bales is overrated.  :coffee:

JB it was in Bemidji.  It did take 2 hours.  Saw 3 assistants and the Dr.  He said boy your eyes dilate real nice.  No wonder I can't focus for 6 hours afterwards.  First eye will be done on April 19.  A week later they do the second one.  Have to drive back the next day after each procedure for checkups.  The wife has her Dr appt there a week later.  We will be sick of that drive after that.  If it was warm April weather we could keep the dogs in our kennel and stay overnight.  Looks like 50's for the day and about 32 for overnight.  Not sure they can handle that.  I have extremely warm dog houses in each kennel but don't know if they go in them or not.  I guess they should figure it out.  Right???   They have coupons for motel bargains too.  That would save 4 hours of driving.  Hmmm  Mayhaps it WILL be nice by then.  ???  Everyone think positive.  I am trying to talk the wife into it right now.  Wish me luck.

Was this at the Scamford Eye place?

If I go there it is because I have to.   I know if you have any major work done you have to micro-manage their billing.  Everything they do it is in kits.  Need a bandaid you pay for a $200 kit, need a stitch you pay for a $300 kit.   If I have  to pay for the kit at least give me the rest of the kit I paid for...oh no we can't do that.  Then charge me for what was used.    All the same but Scamford seems to have the market on this more.

If you put Scamford Medical on your payment check they even get them cashed !!!

They do have some great people working there.  It is just their billing department and methods I have a problem with.   They eye department is outstanding IMO.  I was there at the same time you were the other day.  Had to get a piece of fiberglass out of my eye....dang that hurt but she did a great job.

Mother Mayo is no prize in the billing dept. either. They certainly aren't cheap and trying to get ahold of anyone who can help you is a process. My wife waited on hold for over an hour to talk to someone at Mayo to schedule an appt. when she broke three bones in her ankle back in Nov. She gave up & went thru the specialists at the small local foot clinic in Albert Lea. They scheduled her appt. the next day, performed surgery ASAP once the blister healed sufficiently from the wrap that had been put on in the ER, & afterwards she did her therapy thru Big Stone as some had recommended, not Mayo. Getting that surgery done as quickly as possible & the follow up therapy was crucial. Seven screws and a plate in her ankle later with numerous therapy sessions, she's driving & gets around now w/o a walker or a cane. Competition is a good thing.

Just go back from our ride upriver.  A real small boat went across the ice at Frontier right before I got there.  Maybe a 100' wide channel in the middle of open water.  May go a couple of miles downriver from there.

Mornin gang, 27 currently & we may see 47 later. There's a slight chance of some rain early this afternoon but it doesn't look like the real thing starts here 'til 10 or 11 tonight. Hope it isn't too bad tomorrow early as we're 'sposed to be in Marshalltown around 10-10:30. Got a couple things in mind to get me out of house early today & will go from there. No more now, have a good 1.

Morning boys.  We have the same 2 above here.  Yes it was chilly yesterday.  Hope it is nicer today.  I will do a river check again today.  The dogs love when we do that.  May go get some more wood too.  They love that too as I let them run around when I fill the trailer.  The weekend it getting closer.

I did see someone with a camo jacket on.    Would have been much cheaper to have you use your Gerber.

Good for you rooney. I'm still looking at four and half FEET of snow in my woods yet. Of course half of that was put there on purpose by a plow on a pickup and a tractor with blower. Was going to take the blower off, but looking at the weather it can wait until Monday now. Later.... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin' comrades! Was 20 at 4 a.m., rose to 25 by choretime and is headed for the mid-40's. Were some little flakes during chores but they were short-lived. Plopped a round bale in the feeder this a.m. when the ground was froze so happy sheep. Happy me cuz it didn't rip the yard up & means feeding fewer small squares. Left the spear on as the bale in the other lot is almost gone so will need to put one in there eventually. Still talking rain tonite and tomorrow changing to snow Friday nite. Left the blower where I could get at it easily just in case. Trusting the weather is like trusting a fart at my age.  :coffee:

So I was getting about ready to finish coffee, take Poppy out to poop & hit the showers when I look out the window to see a ewe where it doesn't belong. Crap! Who is she & how did she get there? Put my chore clothes back on and march her direction. Got close enough to see by her tag it was one of last year's yearling show ewes. She'd apparently come across the backside of the barn on top of the snow where it's like concrete. The grass, trees, or whatever are always greener as they say. I chased her back through where she'd squeezed thru then decided I'd put a bale in that lot a little ahead of schedule to keep those idiots occupied. No reason to give them any more excuses to go walkabout than they already have.
