Got ours back a few days ago.  Still have the company doing ours that did them the last 25 years when I owned other businesses.  So it's just our personal stuff now and they charged us $600 to do our easy taxes.  Won't be using them anymore.  Will be finding a different program for next year.

No kidding.  We said after this year with no business residue hanging on we need to check things out.  Our tax guys were a couple of partners and then they were bought out by a group and built a new nice building a few years ago and I could see the writing on the wall.  The original guy was super nice and I could call him for advice on money things and he didn't charge me.  Now I am afraid to call with how they raped us this year.  I don't even think Bob (the good guy) even works there anymore.  Probably retired.  May have been sold twice in the last few years.

Even thought about online options as the wife is pretty savvy about that.  Do you go to a  guy Mike?

good morning guys and gals,
I'm not sure how many have heard that the red lake nation has submitted a bill to acquire the land surrounding upper redlake and the lake itself.
I did submit 2 letters to rep.matt.grossell@house.mn.gov   and
sen.steve.green@senate.mn opposing this bill
I sent emails to my state senator Jeff Howe and he replied already.  He's  not supporting the bill! :happy1: also sent one to Rep Lisa Demuth but haven't heard back yet .

And as long as I was at it I threw my 2 cents in about the wolves. Again on the hunters side.

While we are at it we should mention a big fat no on the White earth state forest transfer too. Even though it has been tabled. They need to know it is not supported. So would the Red lake be a state issue or a fed? Maybe Amy and Tina should be getting some emails too.

Today I am hoping to finish the white oak flooring I've been working on. We got rid of the quarter inch paneling and sheet rocked much of our main floor. Next to get the flooring down, sanded and finished. This 140 some year old farm house still has a lot of life in her.

nice work Mark  :happy1: but as a former welder..........those welds on the leg pads   :doah: :moon: :rotflmao:

Sorry about that. I thought something was up when the plasma cutter had a tough time cutting that material so I asked the guy I got the steel from and he said it was some concoction of steel, titanium and stainless. Therefore crappy looking welds. But the welding table top I made with the rest of the material works great. Headed to the vet with the monster this morning to get shots then to church for a visitation for a friend's wife. After that I may look at putting the hitch mount in the truck. Later... :happy1: :happy1:

Morning boys.  Slept late and it felt good.  Beautiful morning.  26 and may see 46 later on.  No big plans for the day.  I see some puddles have disappeared so we are gaining on it.  No open water here yet but the ice is changing daily.  You all have a good one.

I gave all 5 of them my opinion on the land transfers and sports betting being run by the State.  Also that the State needs to have our own casinos.

Mornin' comrades! 45 at choretime heading for a high in the upper 50's. A little dab of rain. .08" at the ranch & .11" in Bugtussle. Could be a passing shower today but that'll probably be about it. Need to find more tax stuff today. Changing accounting firms a couple times in the past year has meant information scattered from hell to breakfast. The last outfit wanted to do everything online thru a portal (PITA), kept a lot of the hard copy I mailed them and never returned it, then jacked around until July filing our taxes. Talking to anyone was not an option. Fortunately copies of what I'm looking for are also at the bank so will head there 1st, then hopefully haul it to the new accountant in Waseca. There are actual real people there who you can talk to and ask questions. Novel concept... :coffee:

As I recall, the deal Ranger Rudy Perpich made with the tribes gave them a free exclusive and perpetual gambling franchise so that ship has left the barn

And the only reason they are enabled to start pushing is because we can't stop funding them thru their casinos.

Who wouldn't do the same?  When you are given more money than you know what to do with, why wouldn't you invest it in land.    Especially since your entire culture is deeply rooted in the land - which for good or ill, legally, immorally, or not - was occupied and taken by the European settlers.

stop going to casinos....everyone......there is a way to stop funding them.

there is a thread on IDO about this.........not sure if this guy knows anything be he claims there is more to it then just the state saying yea you can have it........like the feds getting involved. also  not sure that either this red lake thing or the white earth thing will even happen....guess the white earth thing was tabled!!!!  :doah: :doah:
