Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! Terdy tree at 8 a.m. heading for a high in the mid- fitties. Didn't get our wood gathering in yesterday. The Canadian friends got back from Thunder Bay ahead of schedule so we had to get cleaned up. Took time to get the water in the sauna heated so we could get cleaned up. Been a lot of nagging little crap this trip from others using the cabin. Stuff not put back, stuff missing, stuff not hauled home that should've been, stuff messed with & screwed up. Went to do dishes with hot water we'd heated on the stove. Dumped it in the sink & the strainer floated out if the drain. Here some numbskull had flipped the stopper on the strainer upside down so it wouldn't seat in the drain. WTH?
so Dotch.......how many people have keys  to the joint?????

with the cabin my brother and myself, my kid and my brothers kid have keys. but mom trained us pretty good on how the place needs to be when we leave......and if one thing wasnt right.......oh we heard about it.  :doah: :rotflmao:

other then a few little things now and then its been working pretty good......nuttin to get all bent outta shape over anyway!!!!

No idea precisely how many sets of keys there are but guessing nirth of a half dozen. Since I don't have ownership I really don't have a dog in this fight. I do however have to contend with the aftermath & upkeep when Bill heads up here. It's frustrating to see someone has left a mess or crap in the fridge we have to haul out when we close the place up for the winter. I think the particulars need to get together in the off season & establish some guidelines or it's going to continually get worse.

We are cleaning the camper out and getting ready to winterize it.  I have St Louis spares in the smoker now.

Maybe a better question who or how many actually owns the place.

Your right that group needs some ground rules.

We have a simple list at the door, a checklist so to speak.

The property is undergoing an ownership change, the original owners passing it along to the next generation. Only a few of the heirs, like 2, have a grasp of the gravity of the responsibilities they will be charged with. Talking with Bill moments ago he agreed they need a meeting to set guidelines. With zoom calls, etc., should be a piece of cake.

Morning boys. 40 here and heading for 61 it says. With the 20 mph wind coming off of the lake not to sure we will hit 60 here. Spent yesterday afternoon cutting grass and taking the yard. Lots of leaves and grass. Should be ready for winter now. Never got to the camper. Oh well. Just getting ready to head to the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

Mornin boys, 44 here & we're headed towards 65. Got the rest of the handrail off yday. So, about all that's left is to get the middle posts out of the water & hook the Grizzly up to the dock. Then we can winch it up the steps. There's a couple other things I can do while I wait for it to warm up a little. No more now, have a good day.

My list for today is Dr. appt @11:00 after that wash the truck and SxS so the wheeler can go to Osakis for storage for the Winter. Put away all the tools from last weekend's projects. Then wash out two totes and maybe spend some time on the mower turning big leafs into small ones. Later...... :happy1: :happy1:

Morning boys.  Breezy morning here.  I will finish getting the camper winterized today.  Was hoping to go fishing later on but the wind my dictate otherwise.  We shall see.  I will make the call to let them know the camper is ready for storage too.  I pay $12 a foot so a 26' travel trailer is $312.  I have never even shopped around here to see how that fits it with prices.  Pretty average I think. Have a good one.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! Terdy fife at 8 a.m., heading for a high in the low sitties here in beautiful suburban Flanders. Last full day at camp so have to make it count. Writing this a.m. so after that, look out! I'll probably take a nap. :rotflmao: Gathered, split and stacked wood yesterday after some excitement from home. Got a call from the kindly neighbor informing me our pasture was on fire! They weren't home but thought I might be. WTH? Told them there wasn't much I could do since I was 8+ hrs. away. They wanted me to call my wife. Did that & was sure that wouldn't go well. It didn't but I knew my other neighbor was already on top of it. He'd been working the adjacent field & had most of it out by the time the wife arrived on the scene. It melted a bunch of the insulators off the fence but it hadn't grounded it out. Sheep were fine, no humans were hurt just my landlord's feelings. He'd left a fire unattended and sparks must've caught the dead grass along the field's edge then it crawled into the pasture. He's a bit of a fire bug, always burning something even when it's tinder dry. Hopefully he knocks it off. It burned about half the pasture off that was covered with oak leaves so at least he can't burn those anymore!

Darn lucky.   Was just at the grocery store and the lady there said she got a picture on facebook from last year.  10-27-2023 she said we got 6-8" of snow.  I kind of remember that mess but had forgot about it.  We have a chance of rain tomorrow with highs in the 50's.  The next day 40's.  I wanted to go fishing today but the wind may change that.  I hate to pull the plug already but I am tired of winterizing the boat outside when it is wet and cold out.

Morning boys. 48 here and heading for 50 today. Sounds like some rain is a possibility. Loaded wood in the woodshed last night. Good for another week or so. Otherwise just getting ready for another day in the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

An early morning boys from here.  I am going to have the wife pick me up at the access before she goes to work so I can leave the truck and trailer there.  Then I have all  morning to get the boat out.  Have a pre-op check up at 1.  It surprised me to be able to get the camper in so quick so didn't get to fish on such a nice evening.  They are saying rain with possible flakes mixed in the next day or two.  Will feel good to have everything all buttoned up.

I didn't get the wheelers put away yesterday so it WILL get done today. Need to get plow truck running too. Didn't want to turn over yesterday, dirty posts, bad battery, who knows. That's today's first project. Wanted to put insurance on it and drive it up to deer camp for the week to drive through the woods instead of new truck. Know more tomorrow, later....... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin guys, for probably the last time this year we had 50 @ 6:30 here & we could see 58 later. We pulled 2 sets of legs, hooked the Grizzly up to a short rope, & my brother walked the rollout dock up the steps. 'Bout as easy as it's ever went.....................20-30 minutes tops. :happy1: So, he went for 1 last bike ride around the lake & I got rid of a little more of my pile of dead wood after that. That SE wind doesn't hit here too bad, so we had a little early HH out front of the garage a little later. Got a couple things in mind for today..................have a great day.

Good morning campers. A foggy 51° when I released the kraken at 7:20 this morning. I hear rumors of 82° today with pretty strong south winds.
Got the garlic in Sunday morning. Only planted 29. Wife looked at the garden and said there's room for more. She'll pick more up on Friday when she goes in to Mankato.
I replaced a ballcock on a buddy's toilet. He said the water was running all the time so he shut the water off to that toilet. Two months ago. That job took all of 20 minutes.
I hope we get the rain they're predicting. Our last measurable rain here at the home was on 19 September.
      Stay safe everyone.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 46 at 8 a.m. from suburban Flanders. On the road after closing up the camp. The extra crap we hauled out & cleaned up cost us an hour so we're running behind. Long drive ahead. Good luck on the surgery Barry. Glenn wanted me to ask if they were going to do any enhancement projects while they were at it... :sleazy:

Ya no kidding,  one side pic is enough.  Afternoon peoples 79 and I aint complaining one bit, a bit breezy tho. Was off the grid buttoning up the cabin for the yr over the weekend, not too mention chasing a few roosters.  Managed 5 and missed that many plus lost 2. Maisy the pup really figured it out on private land that actually held birds, sure was fun but the warmth really slowed Remi the 10 yr old down, he's good otta the gate but after a 12 acre field he's looking for some couch..lol. Man is it quiet out lakeside this time a year, I can't wait to move out yonder full-time.  Anywho I gots leaves to chop....See ya!!!
