Mornin gang, 36 for our start & we're headed for 47. Clear as a bell here. Messed with my pile of wood for a while yday but everything was still kind of wet. No wind either, but I did keep it going for a couple hours. Need a few things so we're headed to GR today. Probably the last time for that this year. 'Bout it here, have a good day.

Need to put out hide boxes today, after that load the 1/2 ton so I can head out tomorrow. Garage needs to be cleaned up after yesterday's tinkering on the new John Deere. I took it for a spin around the yard, it has a hand operated hydrostatic drive which will take some getting used to and turns like a dump truck. Still good enough for what I want to use it for. Have a great day everyone, later........ :happy1: :happy1:

Ok. I have to ask Gunner. How big is the wood burning project that you keep working on. Seems you have been at it for awhile. Curiosity has got me. We need pics.

Good morning All.   What is this bright ball in the blue sky here this morning?  42 and rising here.  If it's not going to rain at least it is bright out.  They say we are only heading to 45 but that is just what they say.  Heading to the shop for another day of boat R&R.  Have a great one All.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 35 at choretime heading for a high in the upper 40's. .34" of rain at the ranch & .35" in Bugtussle the past 24 hrs. Very foggy so far, the kind of day where you roll the windows down at the stop sign to listen before crossing your fingers and pulling out. Still some morons with a death wish driving w/o their lights on. Hopefully it'll burn off soon. Need to start work on a harvest/growing season article today for next week's paper. I figure if I pick at it for a few days I should have it done. Right now I'm watching a squirrel out the window to make sure he doesn't stuff a walnut someplace up under my pickup. They put 'em in the damndest places sometimes.

:sorry: No cell, so no pics. I'm just cutting up & burning some of the stuff the storms have blown down lately. Had 1 this Spring up by the cabin on the NW side of our lot, so I started there. Been working on 1 spot about 1/3 way down our almost 600' drive most of the season. We've got quite a few bigger trees that've come down lately on the other end of the driveway too. Some of those will need a bit more work with the chainsaw 1st.

What kind of trees, Gunner?

We have mostly Pine trees up by the buildings, FW. While the neighbor has quite a few Oak & Maple trees, we only have 1 or 2 Maple trees. Most of the bigger trees that have come down on that end of the driveway are mostly Ash & maybe a little Poplar, I believe. There's probably at least 1 real good pickup load, maybe 2, already cut enough for us to move down there. If you burn wood & think you could use it for firewood you are more than welcome to it, FW. I would even help you load it, if you wanted it. We are planning on heading back to Iowa by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, however. That doesn't mean you couldn't come get what you want at some other time that is more convenient for you though. I would just let the neighbor across the road know what's going on is all, as they know when we're not here & keep an eye on our place when we're not around.

Good morning All.  36 and cloudy here this morning.  Still pretty dang nice out for this time of the year.  They say a chance of rain but have to see if that happens.  I seen the hunting traffic already started yesterday with a lot of trucks pulling ATVs and campers.  Good luck to the hunters.  Be safe!!  To the shop I go!!

Morning boys. 35 and heading for 48 today. Did some running last night and started getting stuff ready to go to head to deer camp. I will head home after work and pack up. Then head down to deer camp. Getting excited. If I lived closer Gunner I would come get the wood since we burn a ton of wood. Otherwise just another day in the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

Good Morning. Yesterday I drove up tp Ely to visit a good friend who is in a nursing home up there. Was a good visit. His mind is sharp but cancer is taking its toll. 6 hours up and 6 hours back. That's enough driving for a while. Looked like a lot of people were headed up to deer camp.

Mornin gents, 40 & quite glenn-like here ;) & it's coming from his direction too. They say we could see 48 later. Much like last week, there were 3 or 4 guys at Customer Service counter at L&M getting their :deer: licenses yday & that was about the busiest spot we seen. We were back out here by about 1. Pretty nice out about then so I got rid of another few pcs of wood. Probably going to start there again this morning as it's might be too breezy by about noon. Have a good time at deer camp & be safe everybody. No more now, have a great day.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 31 at choretime heading for a high around fitty. Beautiful sunny start to the day after doing chores at both places. Days like today make me want to head back north again. Deer hunting success here should be enhanced as the vast majority of crop is off and a fair number of fields are worked. Need to really pay attention even in the daytime. They're everywhere. I need to make a feed run, grab some butter & softener salt while I'm at it after lunch. Will see where I wind up following that excursion. Plenty of stuff to play with at home after I unload all of it so might do that before heading to the neighbors to do the night chores. That pasture catching on fire sure made a bunch of extra work out of things. Twice daily chores over there is overrated.

After the full-on rampage in the woods last Sunday morning, I really wanted to get back out there to see if it continued. But alas it looks like I will not be able to get in another bow hunt before the rifle season. As of today, I plan to rifle hunt on Saturday but will be sitting over a mile from where I was last Sunday. A friend of mine will be sitting in the area where all the bucks were running on Sunday, so I hope he gets a crack at a big one.
Gunner55, I hear you on the down trees. I check the data from a local weather station every time there's a storm or high wind by my land. I have about 5.5 miles of groomed (I use a pull behind brush mower) trails that could potentially be blocked by downed trees. In addition to the trails there's about 2 miles of field edges that could have fallen trees on them. Most blow downs are dead trees between 4-6 inches in diameter so it's usually not too bad.
