markn, how was your hide count this year. We still have the boxes out (usually take them in after the first week or two of muzzleloader.
So far it looks like we will take in about the same as the past two years. Did you watch 10:00 PM WCCO news a couple days ago. The had a very good bit about MDHA and our Hides for Habitat program. Jarred got in a few words as well. It was a very positive story about MDHA and what we do.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Morning boys.  Happy Thanksgiving! 18 here and heading for 22. Ground and mixed up some sausage last night. Going to stuff and start smoking that today.  We had our turkey dimmer last Saturday when the kids were here hunting.  Mike the new car is great. We do have to bring it back for some warranty  work. 2 of the tire sensors quit working before we even got out of IFalls the nightbwe got it. But hunting  season  got in the way of getting  the car in. We also can't  figure out the wireless charger.  I will get it over there sometime  next month. Have a good one boys.

My JD project took a turn to the south yesterday. Should have read the instructions first. Anywho, we're having roast beef today, smashed tators, corn and some other stuff. After spending a ton of time with my Norwegian grandparents on the farm while growing up that's all I need. And apple pie.
Deadeye, our hide count is down from last year. We're at 400 something. Still have the boxes out, see what Tuesday brings as far as pulling them. Thawed out 16 in the garage and salted them yesterday. I did watch the WCCO bit the other night. I wish they would have went a little farther on how many hides we have done and how much money has been generated fro it. Still a good deal. Happy Thanksgiving again everyone, later..... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 18 at choretime heading for a high in the mid-20's. Chores done both places, Treated our sheep at the neighbor's pasture to a couple more buckets of ground fall apples. Had breakfast meself along with a little tincture in my coffee. Turkey's getting closer to hitting the coals. Got plenty of them in the grill today because it's chilly. Wife wondered if it'd be ready by 12:30. Told her I reckon so. Should give me a chance to shower & have a few G&T's, just like the Pilgrims.  :coffee:

Morning boys. 13 here and supposed to make 15 today. Snowed most of the day yesterday. Light fluffy stuff. Probably have 5-6" on the ground now. I thinks most of it is lake effect since the lake was still open yesterday. Starting to see some slush along shore though. Will be interesting to see today. Stuffed and smoked Polish sausage yesterday. I put the summer sausage in the smoker around 6 this morning. That will be an all day smoke. Need to cut some firewood and load woodshed today. Also need to run to Williams to get my muzzy license. I will do some hunting tomorrow. Have a good one boys.

Good morning campers. Clear and 4° when the disgruntled mother cluckers hit the ground this morning.
I sure do hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day.  Good thing I'm retired and can take all day to recuperate.
      Stay safe everyone.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 7 at choretime heading for a high in the upper teens, maybe. Wind chill was ~ -8 around 7:30 when I did chores at the neighbor's. Sorta in aftermath cleanup mode today. Poppy's sliding glass door, where she launches her assaults on the tree rats from, is froze shut. She'll have to be content to watch the sheep grinding away on the frozen pumpkins I dumped over the fence yesterday, at least until it warms up again. Will finish washing a bunch of dishes since they've been soaking a while, then watch the rodents take their medicine at Camp Randall. Might see about moving some round bales into the main lot this afternoon. Sounds cold & there are numerous hurdles to overcome but it needs to happen. Likely move the sheep home from the neighbor's pasture Sunday. Was surprised. They augered their way into the frozen pumpkins I dropped off there yesterday. They love the seeds in particular & eating the pumpkins themselves gives them something to do.  :coffee:

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 3 above at choretime heading for a high in the mid-teens. Was a little snow in the air last nite ~ 9:30 when I went out to check on our new arrival. Yep, we had a lamb born over at the neighbor's pasture. Found that last nite when I did chores there so had to hook up the trailer to retrieve it & the mother. Luckily the ewe followed the lamb into the trailer & then into the pen when I got them home. Mom & daughter are doing well despite the cold. Got positioned yesterday to move feeders & round bales around here at home today. Too many obstacles (tire, gas pump, oil leak, etc.) yesterday to get it done then. Have a feed run to make & need to run to town to write some checks. Will bring the sheep home from the neighbor's tomorrow afternoon. So there, then!  :coffee:

Supposed to relax yesterday after the bone cracker appt. Took a nap, as directed, and second oldest called just as I was getting up. Went to his place and blew in 60 bags of insulation in the crawl space above the new addition. At 25 pounds per bag I paid for it when I got home. Wife seems to think I'm hanging up outside lights today. I told to look at the thermometer and let me know what she going to wear outside. Subject dropped, for now. Later....... :happy1: :happy1:

Good morning campers. My thermometer read 1° at 7:15 when I let the mother cluckers out in to their yard. I don't think they were all that impressed with the weather.
Not a whole lot planned for the day. Should clean out the smoker from the Thanksgiving Day turkey and eggs. Pretty darn good.
      Stay safe everyone.

Morning boys.  3 above here and heading for 16. Still windy here out of the wnw at 15. Been like that since turkey day. Made it to -7 last night. Summer sausage all smoked yesterday.  Reached temp about 8 last night. Today will be to bag breakfast sausage and vacuum pack the polish and summer sausage. Ya, wonder where LPS is. He didn't  mention anything going on. About it here. Have a good one boys.
