Morning boys.  The wife said it was 11 when she got up at 5 and it is down to 4 here now.  Brrr.  We are expecting 2-4 from what I am hearing.  I guess we are ready since we just got the deck all cleaned up.  May as well get ready to do it again.  Tis the season.  Not sure what I will do today other than tend the fire.  Need to think of what to make for supper.  Well stay warm out there.

Mornin gents, 21 here & we might see 27. We've got some snow in our forecast too, but it's < 1" & not s'posed to start 'til ~ 8 am tomorrow. We made it back from Mason City a little after noon & the roads were good then. Found gas over there for < $2.50, so I filled up. Got 1 small project on my list for but I'll probably start back at the Y again today. No more now, have a good day.

morning fellers.......21 when i looked. snow just enough to dust the deck and sidewalk. yesterday i needed to get some ice melt for the sidewalk and driveway. was real skeptical about putting that on my new cement. the guy recommended some pet safe stuff.  showed me the ingredients its magnesium chloride not sodium chloride said it was better for everything so..we shall see. pet sake and doesnt kill grass or flowers. the sidewalk and driveway was glare ice!!!

not sure what i'll do today!!!!!

Afternoon fellow gulag comrades! 22 at choretime & looks like it topped out at 26 on the BWH thermometer. Had about .5" of snow in Bugtussle & .4" at the ranch. Melted out to .05" of snow in town. Should be melted out at home but haven't been there to read it. Got bales moved around yesterday after plopping one in the lot. Needed to get the 1st cutting positioned so it'd get fed up 1st. Was just starting to snow in the photo. Can honestly say I got very little accomplished so far today. Steady stream of guys hiding from their wives looking to kill time before lunch. I did get a check from the one guy, answered another zinc question & learned about a potential oats processing plant going into Albert's Leaf so there was that. Some days it's gleaning tidbits that might come in handy for future reference.

Nice Dotch.  Bet that feels good to have new rubber.  What model is that tractor? Looking good.  Don't need weights if you keep carrying that bale around.

The new rubber is nice but the new rims are the best part. We were cruisin' for a bruisin' there. It's an International 656. Ya, if I just wanted to push snow with the bucket, it wouldn't need weights with a bale on the 3 pt. spear. Alas, with a bale on the back, the thing is about 30' long! A little cumbersome in a yard best suited to something like a narrow front WD. The snowblower wouldn't require additional ballast either as long as you didn't run it right down on the ground. Ballast would likely help with the spreader, especially once it's ~ half empty. 220 bu. spreader full of heavy pack manure so not as much weight on the tongue/drawbar at that point. When I was moving bales yesterday, I'd put two in a row & wanted to scoot them back a foot, using the bale I had on the spear. It sat and spun. With the chloride in the tires that would've been a slam dunk.

It's got a little over 3200 hrs. on it. Growing up, I spent many hours plowing, discing, digging, dragging, baling, sowing oats & planting with it. My ears would ring after plowing all day. Dad added the loader after I left. The cab I added 4 or 5 years ago. Use it primarily for hauling chit, moving round bales & snow removal. It got used <40 hrs. this past year with no snow. Ya Barry, IH got a lot of mileage out of those slotted dish cast wheels, starting with H's & M's back in 1939. They were still using a very similar style wheel yet on the 686 in 1980.

You didn't miss anything. It has been good most of the week. But it has been pretty warm for the first part of the week. Now that it is getting cold it will be the test. Seems to be good so far. So far it seems that me not making sure all the ash was cleaned out before starting may have been the culprit. The next couple days will tell us. Keeping my finners crossed.
Hey look your bobber is up!

Morning boys. 3 above here and heading for 13 it says. Warmed up overnight. Still saying we might get some snow. But so far it has stayed away from us and that is just fine. We have enough for now. The wood boiler did good overnight. So far so good.  We have the big profit sharing meeting at work today over lunchtime. Last year was pulled pork. So it tends to be a pretty laid back day today. Otherwise just getting ready to head to the salt mines. Have a good one.

The last of our hides, rotten hides, legs and heads, hit the dump yesterday and the 1/2 ton got washed out. Put the plow on and parked it in the garage to thaw out before it goes outside for the Winter. Got marching orders from the Mrs. to be sure to clean out around the mailbox today so she doesn't have to get out of her car to get the mail. Yeah, right, I'm all over that. If the mailman can get close enough to put the mail in the mailbox she can close enough to get it out. Watch me eat them words. Later...... :happy1: :happy1:

Mornin guys, 24 for our start & we're headed towards 32. No snow here yet, although the radar has looked quite the opposite. Nothin big on the agenda again today, so I'll probably go looking for a treadmill here in a bit. Have a good day!!

Morning boys.  We have 6 and should see 13 for the high.  1-3" of snow possible.  I see we have upper 30's and even a 40 or two coming towards us next week.   :happy1: :happy1:  That will be huge to ease our winter.  Not good for ice though.  No big plans for the day.  Will do some reading a good kindle book series that I am into.  TGIT!!   :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 23 at choretime, heading for a high in the upper 20's. About an inch of snow in Bugtussle & at the ranch. Melted out to only .05" of liquid equivalent precip in town. Wasn't able to cut a biscuit so it's probably a little light on that end. It quit a couple hours ago but might be an additional dusting this afternoon. Got most of my errands run except to DG. Got there & the store was closed because the cash registers were shut down. Made some coffee & fired up the milkhouse heater to warm up my tootsies once back to the office. Still gotta order my oysters for Christmas Eve so better get on it.

Yes, it could be that he feels sorry for him or it could be that he wants the driveway clear to make it easy for him to leave again. :mooning:
