Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 0 at choretime, heading for a high around 7 above. Had a dusting of lite snow the past 24 hrs., nothing measurable. Morning chores done, breakfast et, & back out to check on a ewe with a waterbag. No change since choretime so may have to go Dr. Pol on her in a few hours if she she doesn't show some progress. Another effing yearling ewe. Total idiots and nothing but trouble. Otherwise it'll be stay inside except to feed bottle lambs until nite chores. Wind is raw, NW at 15 mph making the windchill -16. Just hangin' on until it warms up, hopefully by next weekend. At least I got a glenn nap in after shearing yesterday.  :coffee:

Just got back from our shopping trip.  I bought a chair for my desk about 18 years ago and it has a vibrating back on it.  I wasn't interested in that feature at all.  Here years later I absolutely love it.  After a long day I turn it on and it really relaxes my back muscles. I lost the cord to it years ago since I never used it.  Here my Hummingbird flasher cord fits it so I am using it right now.

Glenn. Yes we buy our firewood. We used to go down into the forest and buy it at the landing. We would block it up right there and throw it on the trailer. I could haul 3 cord loads on our bobcat trailer with 4' sides on it. We would pay $60/cord at the landing. For the last 5 years we have been getting 100" delivered. This guy charges a $100/ cord delivered. Then I block it up at home once a week. When we cut at the landing we spent 4-5 weekends just cutting firewood in the winter. We burn 25-30 cord each winter heating all the buildings. We have always bought Tamarack. It burns as long as oak and burns hotter.

I also wondered about the wood burning,  good to know. Well, all done with Hell on wheels,  great flick but long no need to feel obligated to sit and stare at the tube. Then again the patio furniture should be coming out soon!  ;) :happy1:

Mornin all, we had -19 when I first looked & the computer says we're now down to -21 or -39 WC. TWC's site is sayin we may make 0 though. Pretty sure there's no real reason why I need to do much outside today either. Have a good day.

Good morning All.  Seen it down to -26 this morning with -44 WC.   Good day to stay home and listen to the furnace suck propane.

Mark you are right on backing those up with the joysticks.  Takes some getting used to.  I have a couple trees with scars from the learning curve.

Morning boys.  We are looking at -19 now from -21.  May get up to -2.  I see Monday they are saying +41 with rain.  I will believe it when I see it. Just like you guys there will be minimal outside fun going on here today.  The bird feeder is as full as it can get with little birds.  Better fill it up today when I do chores at a dead run.  May use my new slicer today.  Stay warm and have fun.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! -13 at choretime heading for a high around -6. Not the punishing cold some places have but plenty cold if you're working outside in it. Wind is not your friend today. Lambing continues. Got to play Dr. Pol on the 1st contestant yesterday. Had a big buck lamb crammed in there that need to be dislodged. After that we docked, tagged & vaxxed a few more pens so if we have to, we can move some down to the main barn. After lunch I crawled under the blankie & managed to sneak another glenn nap in around 3. When we went back out for chores, there was another lamb on the ground, inside the lambing barn thank god. So glad we got that group shorn Saturday.

Days like today, I spy on my old stomping grounds in ND Rookie just to see what's going on up there. When I see some of the temps like this a.m., I have a pretty good idea. When it was -30 to -40, I did very little other than drink. Tomorrow morning looks worse there and here as well. We were lambing here one nite when it was -30 back in the 90's. Still remember being in the barn & hearing a loud popping noise. When I came by the 18" diameter ash tree in front of the house, I saw a crack starting at the ground going all the way up to the 1st crotch on the tree. Good times.  :coffee:

I got called in on chicken duty yesterday afternoon.  Got 2 tan eggs and 1 green one.  This morning nada.  My outside stuff is done for awhile. I forgot to fill the bird feeder.  We had 3 Pine Grosbeaks here this morning.   :happy1: :happy1:

Think I'll go the grocery store before heading home for lunch. Maybe help the wife feed bottle lambs and go to Krause's on a feed run. I have a note pinned to my shirt so hopefully they'll know what I need... :coffee:

Mornin boys, -21 here & we could make 0, I'm hearing. Got less wind (~4) though, so the WC isn't as nasty as yday. I put 1 of our mops to work upstairs for a little while yday & think I'll go through some old magazines today. 'Bout it here, have a good day.

Morning boys.  Just like JB we have -20 and may see about -2 for the high.  AND by Sat we should be in the 30's.   :happy1: :happy1:  I have to go get taxes done at 9 this morning.  Think I will let my truck run whilst there.  Then when I get home I will put the jerky in the oven.  I am absolutely amazed at how good the new Beswood 250 slicer works.  I felt no resistance at all when I pushed the meat through it.  I didn't think it was cutting but it was perfectly.  Glad I bought it and should have 30 years ago.  You all have a good day and keep warm.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! -20 at choretime, heading for a high around -2. A set of twins born yesterday afternoon & and a single this a.m. Got chores done, et my oatmeal & on with the day. Chores are a battle. The lambing barn is full & with the cold weather, we really don't want to move anything to the loafing area. There are several pens ready to go, just need it to warm up. Maybe Thursday if absolutely necessary. It's supposed to get above zero. I gotta play Dr. Pol this a.m. Discovered the bottle lamb in the house has a broken hind leg. It got stepped on Saturday but didn't see where it was broken until last nite. It's a lower leg break on the hind leg so if I can get it aligned, I should be able to tape a couple hunks of paint stir sticks on either side so he can get up and down better. He can get up on 3 legs but it's not easy. I wanna help him if I can.
