Morning boys. -7 here and supposed to make it above zero today. 3 or 7 above, I don't remember now. Drive to Roseau after work last night and filled some propane tanks. Worth the drive when getting 120 lbs. The crooks in Warroad want over a buck a lbs. Cenex in Roseau is .75 a lbs. Good luck Glenn. The docs are watching the same thing on me. As long as there is no leakage. Good to go they say. Otherwise just getting ready for another day in the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

Mornin gang, -8 here & we're s'posed to see 8 on the + side later. I went out to the burn barrel yday around 2 & our thermometer in the garage had 3, they said we wouldn't get above 0. Got a nice surprise when I checked with my bank today, I have a check from the IRS sitting there too. It only took 'em 6 days.  My brother had a cornea transplant on both eyes, mike. At separate times of course. We're going into town today too. Have a good day.

Morning boys.  We are sitting at -7 and should see +7 by the end of the day.  We got our taxes done yesterday and will sign them and get them efiled next Tue.  Not sure why he didn't just do it yesterday?  So we have been thinking we should just do them ourselves too Gunner.  It is just the 2 of us with W-2's now.  Pretty basic compared to what it used to be.  Do you use Quickbooks or something like that Gunner?  I at this point have no big plans for the day.  The usual Bucko and tend the fire is all.  I may start plowing to the brush pile since it isn't so blasted cold.  Have a good one.

Good morning All.   -6 here at the moment saying we might make 0 today.  Starting to hear a lot of sewer systems are freezing with no snow for insulation.   At least a few businesses are staying busy in this cold weather.  Plans for the day...I don't know. Going to go to the shop for a  bit and see from there.    Have a good day!

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! -10 at choretime heading for a high around 1 above. Escaped from the insane asylum for a little this a.m. Lambing barn is at capacity plus. Lotsa climbing over panels at feeding time. If we can get thru the next couple days, we'll be able to move several pens that'll make things a little easier. We are 2/3 done lambing with ~ 9 left that we can see coming. There are 3 or 4 that are a ways off yet. Been pulling pretty hard on the small square hay bales so will need to get ahold of my hay guy to see what he's got. Be nice to open the main barn up once we move the pens that we can anyway & let them tear into some round bales. Hauling & stacking hay is overrated.  :coffee:

Was wondering how some of the septic systems were faring Scenic. Haven't seen any updates on frost depth at Waseca since the 13th but guessing it's a lot deeper than the 23" recorded then. Not much snow here either & always keep my fingers crossed that everything keeps working between heat, water & sewer system. I banked the well pit with extra bales prior to one of the earlier cold snaps. Not sorry I did at this point. Have heard of some having trouble with their water freezing up. I keep forgetting to look at the septic system to see how much snow it might've collected. It's built into the sidehill on a south facing slope so no mound or pump was necessary. We have a garden over the top of it and I leave the residue to catch snow when it swirls around the house.

Back in the day our well pump was above ground in what we called the well house. We always had a heat lamp above the pressure switch. I was home I think but this was when dad had some serious health problems. Anyway, one cold winter day the toilet kept running so dad shut supply valve off under it. Then BOOM, the pressure tank went right through the roof of the well house! I guess the heat lamp must have burned out. Fun mess to deal with.

I remember we had a well house too.  Each fall we would pack it with straw bales and there was a heat lamp and later heat tape too.  Then when it snowed we always piled snow over that and the sewer tanks.  No idea how deep the frost is but she has to be getting down there.

Morning boys. -4 here and supposed to make 10 above today. That is going to feel good. Put the rest of the firewood I cut up on Sunday in the shed. Feels good to have a full shed at the end of the week. The wood stove should be idling this weekend. If the ice thickness on the lake is any indication of the frost depth up here. It is getting deep then. Ice was 30" thick 2 weeks ago here. About it here. Just getting ready for another day in the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

Mornin gents, we have 1 on the + side for our start & we might see 20 today. We had a real light fine snow when we pulled out of the garage ~ 8 yday morning which made CR 35 & Mn 46 a bit slick. It kept that up all the time we were in town too. That made the drive from 46 back here quite a bit worse when we came home around 1. Been out already & I don't think we even had a 1/2" total yday. Got a couple small things on my list today. No more now, have a good day.

Morning boys.  We are at -4 and could see 15 today.  Looking forward to this prelude to spring.  March 1 is meteorological I do believe.  No major things going on today.  That is fine with me.  All of our running around things are done so a quiet day at the ranch is in store for me.  I need a new book series to get into so will search for that. Good luck with the Drs Mike.

Good Morning! 8 below and sunny here. Suppose to get up to the low teens today. It all helps. I thought it seemed like an abnormally cold February but they said it was 30th for coldest. I guess we've been spoiled with all the warm winters we've had.

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! -8 at choretime, was -3 on the way in to Bugtussle & expecting a high in the low-double digits. Another action packed evening in the lambing barn. Wound up pulling a big, dead ewe lamb ~2:30 a.m. My asset is dragging & my back is starting to hurt. The good news is we're whittling them down. That was ewe #25 to lamb out of 36. Appears another one is relatively imminent, then it'll be anybody's guess on 8 or so more. There appear to be 3 that are nowhere near close to coming in for a while. When we get done lambing, time for a come to Jesus meeting. I can't do this anymore the way we're doing it. I'll be 67 in a few weeks. Definitely more to life than this nonsense.
