I have had glasses since 4th grade.  Did contacts a few times but always back to glasses.  Finally had cataract surgery and went great and I can see so clear and without frigging glasses that it is great.  Glenn.  You are wide awake and keeping your eye open as they do the cataract surgery.   I know right??   It is no big deal.  I was worried so when they gave me the happy juice I told them don't be tight with that, I can handle it.  Was a blast actually.  LOL  The first one itched for 2 or 3 days and the second one was not even itchy.  But I have to wear reading glasses.  SUNGLASSES is mandatory for all of us!!!   The sun really hurts eyes.  I have readers on the bottoms of my sunglasses for tying on new jigs etc.  Remember SUNGLASSES anytime you are outside in brightness.

Yeah mike, with both cornea & cataract on both eyes we made a lot of trips to the Wolfe Clinic down in Marshalltown & Des Moines. Then they were so busy it was normally about 6 months out to get an appointment. So, I'll bet it was at least 2-2 1/2 years to get his eyes where they are now. Personally, I've had glasses since I was ~10 so going to the Optometrist doesn't bother me at all.

yes so far my eyes are good other than needing glasses..  and I appreciate that..

Late yesterday afternoon the UPS truck showed up, yipppeee my pins are here. Oh wait, there was only two of the four required pins in the box. I sent a somewhat snotty text after which I had a reply within two minutes where I was reassured the other two missing pins would be on their way today. Enough of that, have a great day everyone, later..... :happy1: :happy1:

Morning boys. 19 here and heading for 45 it says. Cut firewood and loaded wood shed last night. Even had the alien helper. Makes it more fun that way. I also had glasses since 7th grade. Then somewhere around my mid 40s my eyes went back to 20/20 for 5-6 years. Was nice not having to wear glasses. Then I got a fast moving form of cataract and had to have the surgery. Just the opposite of Barry though. Now I am back to wearing glasses for distance. When it was all said and done with both eyes. My right eye is for distance and my left eye is for up close. No readers are needed for me that way. Well, just getting ready for another day in the salt mines. Have a good one boys.

Mornin all, we had 19 when I went out to the garage ~6 & it looks like we should see 46. Everywhere we stopped was kind of busy yday, especially when we stopped to eat in DR. There might be some alien going on there too, as they only had 1 waitress & that's pretty unusual at lunch time. It still couldn't have been much more than a 1/2 hour to get in & out for us though. My list is empty again today, so I'll just have to wing it. Have a good day!!

Mornin' fellow gulag comrades! 21 at choretime heading for a high in the low 4 D's. Snowfall total at the ranch came out to be 2" with a liquid equivalent precipitation of .18". A similar amount of snow was measured in Bugtussle. Still melting that one out presently. Will update later. For us, it turned out to be a Fake Blizzard. I ain't complaining altho I was still pretty tired last nite from all the prep work I did ahead of the storm. There were times yesterday with whiteout conditions between 9:30 & 11 a.m. Then it quit & after lunch it fired up again. Snowed for a couple hours with visibility down to a 1/4 mile at times. Reports of a semi flopped over in the ditch by Clarks Grove on I-35. Slick spots on E&W roads this a.m. Looks like we're still on track to turn the ewes w/lambs out this weekend though so that's the main thing.

I'd love nothing better than to get away from wearing glasses.  I've been wearing them since I was 9 or 10. Nearsighted. Tried contacts several times but find my occupation just gets too dusty & dirty a lot of the time. That and astigmatism plus needing bifocals really took the fun out of it. I needed to wear cheaters for screen work & reading the last time I tried them while losing the ability to see things close up with the naked eye. Like my eye doc said last time I got new glasses, in the old days they would've prescribed trifocals. He told me if you're going to do fine detail work up close (think tiny insects like aphids on a leaf), just take your glasses off! I asked about laser surgery too & he claimed I was a good candidate but he also cautioned me about some of the same things. I'd still need cheaters to read along with losing the ability to see things up close without magnification permanently. Crap!  :doah:

BTW, I was gonna mention, I got a glenn nap in yesterday during our pretend blizzard. The nap was real however... :coffee:
