Aldi's in GR has them almost all the time & we buy 1 at least once a month. They usually go on the Weber rotisserie when the weather's nice but this time of year they normally go in the oven whole. Their drumsticks, thighs, & hind quarters are big sellers most of the time, so the shelves are rarely full of those.

Costco has them also. They come in a two pack for a good price. Very easy to cut up if you need to, but I usually make them whole.

Last 1 we got was a huge bird & it was only ~ $4.50. Not certain how much a # they are but we can easily get 3 meals out of 1 usually.

Good to know. The local meat market used to carry whole Amish-raised birds occasionally but they weren't cheap, like $10 - $12 apiece. A lot smaller too than the chickens we raised on the farm or later when I lived in ND. Can still find birds like that from a few locals but you pay a lot of shekels for those too. I gotta check out the Aldi's in Owatonna sometime. It's kinda off the beaten path but it would give me an excuse to eat Chinese at the East Wind buffet.  :happy1:

The people I have been helping gave me some burger from their angus herd.  Damn good stuff.  SO I fried the burgers and the wife made some awesome gravy and mashed spuds.  We even have enough leftovers to will also be supper tonight. I told her that I buy 85% burger cuz it was cheaper and she made a funny face.  LOL  This stuff when fried has just enough grease under each patty to fry perfectly.  There is not enough grease for the individual spots to even flow to the other ones.  Perfect!

Was getting in a food rut. Needed something different for a change so made tacos. Had been years. Quick & so much better than the junk from Taco Bell or Taco Johns. :happy1:

I had blackened Mahi Mahi tacos and mango coleslaw on Friday in Fort Meyers. They were really good.  :happy1: :happy1:

Back in Minn now. Will have to try that with walleye fillets.

Got a brisket in the crockpot now. Gonna have Reuben's later for supper. Used my last Guinness for the liquid in the pot

sounds good HD!!   one thing I did different with my corned beef and cabbage....   instead of having the cabbage in the crock pot all day, when I pulled out the beef I then cooked the cabbage for 20 or 30 minutes in it..   it came out so much better!!!

My customers drove me to this today. I made it on the stove so I assume it goes here. I do have oxtail veggie soup in the crockpot but that’s for tomorrow.

Man oxtail stew is something I have always wanted to try.  Had some at a friends house 20 years ago and loved it.  Kraut and ribs is a 5 star dinner too!
