We make "Crooked Toast" here.  It came from a snowmobile trip to Crooked Lake that had French toast on the menu.   Turns out we had no milk....but we had Baily's.

Cutting carbs, so there was no rice in the peppers.  Instead, ground beef, browned mushrooms (cooked down), diced, canned tomatoes (well drained), onion, spaghetti sauce, and to replace rice, I found a bag of organic broccoli slaw.  There were a couple of woody bits in the shredded broccoli stems, but overall, it kinda worked.

Sounds good.  Too much rice takes the fun out of it.

Haven't done it for a while. Tough to find French bread in Bugtussle although the artisan bread I used for French toast might work. Too easy to put the frozen pre-made stuff in the toaster oven. Saves time so I can have another G&T!  :happy1:

Typically we don't eat white bread unless it's for French toast. Have done whole wheat French toast but prefer the white bread version. 🍞 Also used to sopping the bread up more with the batter than some, something that goes back to when I was growing up. We had a lot of eggs to use up so I like making French toast with bread that'll soak the batter up but won't fall to pieces. Whip the cheap white bread thru the batter quick like I did during all those Lions club feeds & it works but if you soak it up, it comes apart. Dry French toast where someone just scared the bread with the batter is OK but I prefer it moister.

Usually, it's double or triple dipped Texas Toast used for our French Toast here & French bread for our garlic toast, which is done in the Toaster oven.

Did you shrink the pics down to say less than a mb in size Rookie? I messed up yesterday and accidentally tried to post one that I hadn't and it was a no-go. Was still 6 or 7 mb be fore I shrunk it down. Then it was fine.

I watch this guy that is a chef in a sorority.  Ol Cools Kevmo I think.  He has some good food ideas.  Last night we had "Burger Bowls".  Was great.  Just used a big bowl for a salad.  Put your lettuce down first with some cut up tomatoes or cherry tomatoes.  Could add onion, peppers, etc.  Then fry up a burger the way you like it.  Top with cheese if you want.  Then cut into a few pieces and sit on top of the salad.  There you go.  A salad with a burger on top.  We are going to do it with fish and other things too.  How easy and good!
