Right around the place here you'd never guess that. Used to have bout 40 deer come up in the yard in the winter, now we have 2.  Granted this winter they wouldn't have much reason to come to the corn planted for them. You can go for a walk in the swamps and woods around the area and won't find trails or tracks either. Have to go a nearly 10 miles to find a bit more.

Certain areas have had alot of the deer shot off. Then other areas got boat loads of them.

Just like any other hunting anymore. Scouting is becomming VERY! important.

The area I found was unbelievable. I seen over 25 deer by 7:30AM opening morning. It was a 5 tage area, and I shot four does by 7:30AM

My son filled his tage by 7:30AM and my other son shot three Sat night. I shot a huge 10 pointer Sunday morning and my dad killed his Sunday night

Thats 10 deer and done on Sunday of opener. I think it will be pretty tough to top this years season for us

That article surprises me a little. I'm down here in south central mn, and I have not heard of too many people in this area who had too good of hunting results this past year.

I drive from Owatonna to Rochester twice per day in my job with FedEx Express and I have seen many deer in the early morning or afternoon hours over the past month or two...especially in the more densely wooded and elevated areas around the rivers and bluffs just south of Rochester near the airport.

The mild winters we have had recently I'm sure are allowing the numbers to increase slightly year to year in our area. Rut has not started until well after opening week of the season the past several years down here due to the above average temps.

I was not able to hunt this past season, but I am anxiously looking forward to hunting this year both here in south central mn opening weekend as well as the URL area the second weekend.

I believe it to be because of the number of available tags.
in this area we can tag three deer, some areas I hunt in are up to five tags!
the take does not nessecarily reflect on the herd size.
I saw alot fewer deer this year, including bow season, and no horns to speak of.

mostly Itasca county.
take a kid hunting and fishing!!
