Just got some onion sets and put them in the ground as it was raining.  They should be good to go for this fall.

Glenn, when do you harvest the seed pods? Do you store them for a while or plant them right away? Thanks, Art

Hey thanks much Glenn.  I did buy some sets and planted them after the critters took the ones you sent me.  Mine are growing great and it is the first time I have planted onions.  Will plant yours for next year and look forward to it.  How deep should I plant them and when should I plant them?

Plant them as soon as you get them. Just let them go they will be fine over winter. Just make sure there covered with snow or something.

You don't need to plant them deep. Make a little trench no more then an inch deep put sets in and cover a bit with dirt.

Hey Glenn thanks so much.  I am pulling my green peppers since the dogs ate all of them and planting the onions there.

The dogs frequently walk around with a green tomato in their mouth so I am thinking they did the peppers in too.

That's crazy. Never had hounds that did that. On the other hand the deer up north sure like my mom's hosta's! Barely any leaves left on all her plants. :rotflmao:

Not yet but I am thinking about it. We had our first asparagus on Monday, it was super
Maybe I'll dig up few onions before supper. Did you ask Reb how his onions turned out?

I looked at our asparagus and they don't even exist yet.  Can't wait.  I would like to try onions again.  Even the green top ones.

Yes you did Glenn.  It was dry as heck that year and I don't think I watered them enough.  I am a novice gardener but enjoying it more every year.
