That does look fantabulous meal right down to the green bean casserole RH. Even Reb might eat that! Not to step on anyone's toes here if they like Stove Top type stuffing but that looks like the moister kinda stuffing that my Mom was always noted for.  :happy1: Wish I had some leftovers but think we're gonna work on that situation tonight. Unless Mrs. Cheviot decides to chase me around instead. Afraid I'm running out of excuses other than I'm too tired. :surrender:

After a long day of putz projects yesterday, we finally produced our own Thanksgiving leftovers. Night game or more like turkey by the Braille method! 10 lb. bird basted with a concoction made from orange juice, plum jam, grape jelly, canola oil, some home grown basil and cilantro, along with other herbs and spices. Had a small bag of what I believed to be hickory chips found when digging through the supply so used some of them. It was relatively still and mid-30's at game time so the fire was hot. At one hour the bird temp was already 156! Had told Mrs. Cheviot to expect an hour and a half so stuck with that as she was struggling to get everything else ready on time. Should have taken it off at about 1:15 minutes. At 90 minutes it was at 180! Still juicy though as the basting forms a glaze to help keep the moisture in. Did give me time for one more cocktail that way! Turkey was more done than I wanted but after eating some a little bit ago still very edible. At least it knocked Mrs. Cheviot out. Gotta love that tryptophan!  ;)

Looks good to me dotch!!!  I tried something different with ours on the grill, I  stuffed the cavity full of sliced apples.  Don't think I'll ever do that again, the bird was good and moist but the apples gave it a little different taste.

Looks good to me, Dotch! Less time pawin' at each other = a less done turkey.  :rotflmao:

Try stuffin' apples in a pork roast with slits, boober, then take one of those little kiddie school snack-pak cups with cinnamon apple sauce and put on top. But, that's a whole 'nother subject.

Thanks fellers. 1st turkey I ever did on the grill was loaded with stuff like grapes, pineapple, cinnamon, walnuts & a bunch of other stuff. Fruit compote I think it was called. Turkey was very moist. The fruit was awesome too. I'll have to look that one up and post the recipe when I find it.  :Turkey:
