I've had 2 Ions and both were absolutely fantastic. The jury is still out on the cast iron bottom they put on the new X model, there have been some freezing reports but not a lot. I bought just the X drill for my last years model and I agree it isn't as smooth as the steel ones. I have a call in to see what they say but I'm sure they get buried with calls this time of year. My blades cut for 2 years on the first one and still worked as if it was the first hole, never dulled. They have admitted some drills went out without the proper coating on them, but the steel ones were great.

yeah the next 500  bucks i get free and clear im buying one, still wann keep my eskimoHC40 for back up, and my modle 30 jiffy white head for ol time sake. less my daughter comes for it.
