It was so nice out today I just had to go out and get a "woods" fix.  I was able to drive the 2 1/2 miles back to my place without difficulty.  My guess is the snow is about 6-8 inches deep in the woods so no problem for the deer.  Good news is I didn't see any coyote or wolf tracks.  After hearing some deer snort at me (they were down wind of me) I made a big circle and approached from up wind.  It is difficult at best to watch your feet so not to step on a log, hump or hole while looking out 15-30 feet for sheds all the time watching 100-150 feet away for a stationary deer.  I did manage to get close to a few.  Of course I didn't see them first but they still let me approach close enough for a few photos.  Great time in the woods today.

Although I caught this one looking the other way, I'm sure she saw
me and was just looking for a place to run to if necessary.
