Air fryer

I bought an air dryer a couple of weeks ago and have been trying it out. I bought it for a couple of reasons, 1 is my mother lives with me and she is getting older and she was making French fries in oil on the stove top and forgot to dry of the fries put them in and overflowed the pot and caught the stove on fire (I got it out before any damage) and 2 is eating a little healthier without fried foods. So far I have to say money well spent. The pros are healthier, safer, cleaner, and no grease smell in the house and the cons are small cooking volume, can't use wet batters and more attention need while cooking then when using grease. I'll say the food I've tried so far have tasted about 95% the same as if I deep fried them. All I've used with each meal is about a teaspoon of oil or just a little spray of Pam to make them crispy. So far I've made fries, chicken wings, breaded chicken breasts, fish and baked eggs.

Interesting.  I've been looking at them but that's about it.  May have to pull the plug.  how are the fried fish, close to the same as fried?  thanks.  good luck.

For the eggs I put them in a ramekin sprayed with butter flavored Pam  some salt and pepper when they are done put just a little butter on top. It took a couple try's to get them not being hard boiled or rubbery like McDonald's

The fish was really good, I dipped in flour, egg and bread crumbs, sprayed both sides with Pam. The breeding was crispy and the fish was moist and flaky. The one thing I found out was your food must be the same thickness or the ends will dry out while the center is cooked just right. So before I cook chicken breast I pound it a little to get it he same thicknesse before cooking

I have the 3.5 quart size. If I did it again I would get the 5 quart. The 3 qt is a little small if you have more than 2-3 people. Get one with a baking pan and a divider.

I went with nuwave.  and I like it, get the bigger one though.

I also went with the nuwave, no problems here. I agree get a larger model, this one is perfect for one normal serving or two smaller servings. I had a 3.5 pound fryer chicken and it filled the basket so it is small

Can't find a 5 qt Nuwave air fryer.  Even on Amazon.

My brother has a Phillips air fryer which is larger than the nuwave, we got our nuwave from QVC

Rebs I told my wife that I hope Rebs gets on this.  I am thinking the one you found is the 3.5 qt one and they guys say to get the 5 qt one.  That is harder to find.

Ok maybe a 3.5 qt is fine for us.  It is only the two of us.  If I am going to cook a whole chicken I can cook it on the grill or in the oven or on the grill.  We would only be doing a dozen shrimp, a dozen chicken wings, etc.  So doesn't that make sense???

Thanks all.  Looks like we will be a happy family with an Air Fryer.  We got some egg rolls from a local Asian woman.  Great egg rolls..  I cooked them in my 20 year old Fry Daddy.  Man the whole house stunk like hell.  (And that is with new oil.  I think old oil taints the container for life.  For two days plus the Febreeze that almost made me gag.  A little dab will not do you.....   lol  I am thinking
