I went to Grand Rapids on Saturday to attend the MDHA corporate board meeting and then the annual Habitat Banquet.  I was the lucky winner of a Browning X-Bolt Hunter rifle topped with a Vortex Viper 3-9x scope and Browning Sling.  The package was completed with a Browning 2 gun airplane wheeled case.  Great warmup for our upcoming Chapter banquet.

Very nice.  Now the question is will you use it next year.  Pretty tough to replace the old reliable.

It's a .270 and yes it will be used this fall by either myself or my son.  It would be hard to not use the old trusty Remington .270 that I am using because not only have I used it to kill every deer I have ever taken, it has a rich history in the family.  My wife's grandfather used it to shoot buffalo in South Dakota during the filming of How the West Was Won. It's a beautiful gun and should be used for hunting so that is what we plan to do.  It for sure will be the most expensive gun I ever took out hunting. I hope I don't drop it out of a tree.

Congrats Deadeye, I'm a MDHA member also. I hope it has a better safety than the Remington 700's they had on 60 minutes last week. That's some scary stuff! They must have done a great job of covering that up, I've never seen it before and I'm around guns a lot.
I've been your age, you never been mine!

Class action lawyer plant to put pressure on Remington.  But, yes they had a big problem, and a recall back awhile.

I had two of the Remington 700's with the issue in the old recall.  I don't know about the latest story but I assume it's the same.  I could actually duplicate the fault in both guns.  The issue was the gun would sometimes fire when the safe was moved from off to on.  With the save on and you pulled the trigger, nothing happened but then if you put the safe off it would fire.  Otherwise it worked normal.
