We do need a big back though but a back that can catch the ball also.  Seems like the vikings are going to more of a passing game plan though like a lot of the NFL.    Fast backs with good hands.  Lacy is banged up.  I say draft a big running back.  good luck.

If we could ever get DeMarco Murray in purple and a consistent qb situation we'd be bowl bound for sure. Dude is a MONSTER physically, catches passes, and has feet like a ballerina. Unlike Mr Peterson he is a true 3 down back and can throw a mean pass block.

Mike & Mike said they signed him this morning. A 3 year deal that has a option to be 1, never heard of that before. I like it as he runs hard & has much better hands than AP Beat me to it RH

Ya, I seen it 3 hours ago laying in bed LOL.  This is why I have faith in Zimmer and his staff.  he has input and it shows.  This is why I wasn't worried about us trading our no. 1 pick for Bradford.  I think he will be great this year.  We will also get a few draft picks as well.  They are really making some moves.  Players do not want to be on this team, then go play somewhere else.  Very few players that leave the vikings make it big with other teams.  good luck.

Peterson is history with the Vikings.  Spielman made it official today.  After Latavius Murray's signing we knew it was over with Peterson.  I think Detroit and Oakland are the only two teams that have showed interest in him so far but yet signed.  good luck.

Vikings GM Spielman Makes the Expected Official: Adrian Peterson is Moving on

In a conference call with reporters to announce the free-agent signing of running back Latavius Murray, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman confirmed Adrian Peterson will not return to the team in 2017.

"With us signing (Latavius) Murray, Adrian will move on elsewhere," Spielman said Thursday.

And dat takes care of dat!!!

I didn't realize the RB pool was so limited/competitive in a passing league. While I'm relieved to be done with any and all AP drama, I am pretty disappointed that we got Latavius Murray. Some teams like the NY Giants or the Patriots certain years can make a committee situation work out, but I think the 2 and 3 backs on those teams are better than McKinnon and certainly better than Asiata. Guys like Dion Lewis and Shane Vereen definitely are and they  aren't "great" Rb's. Our backfield just got as truly mediocre as mediocre gets.  On a kind of related note I"m glad we signed Thielen back, gotta look out for our pass game if a Murray-McKinnon-Asiata backfield is what we're stuck with.

I would have rather rolled the dice on Lacy and bought him a Jenny Craig membership or a crate full of SlimFast.

Line should've got used more last year, I agree! He's shown several times he's got better hands than you'd expect from a FB, blocks better than Asiata, seems to run "smarter" than McKinnon if that makes sense. But yeah, a year ago they re signed him to only a 1 yr contract...bet they let him walk. Stupid.

McKinnon's okay if we have to be stuck with him but I detest Asiata. Not that there aren't diamonds in the rough (like Adam Thielen) but Asiata was an undrafted rookie and we originally cut him, and then signed him back to practice squad. No other teams gave him any offers. The only reason he touched a football ever was when AP got suspended. At least we drafted McKinnon after he had one heck of a pro day, and played both QB and RB in HS and college.

When I saw Asiata several times this year get handed the ball on consecutive short yardage (literally 1 yard or less) and not convert on successive tries, I was pretty disgusted. NOT an option for an NFL RB. You belong in Arena Football or the CFL if thats how you play as an RB in a goal line or crucial 2nd/3rd and short situation.

Article in the paper said asiata, line , and a few others,. Long, an offensive lineman are unrestricted free agents and won't be back.
