Your demeanor you have plays a big part in this.  Can you handle stress or are you prone to over-react.  Hopefully those ladies don't get a permit anytime soon.  Weapon of choice is important.  Something you are comfortable with.  I have been shooting most of my life, and not just hunting season.  Actually folks that hunt even need to go practice more than just shooting a few rounds off to see if your still on target.  But with a carry permit you need to go at least a couple of times a months and if you can afford it even more.

Everyone has heard of pepper spray.  But when I took my class the instructor had this display of cans that shoot out this gell.  When it hits skin it expanse on the skin area.  he said that this stuff will stop a perp in his tracks.  I forgot what it's called.  he has his daughters carry this in their purses.  He had the typical smaller size containers for purses and pockets.  But he also had these larger containers that were about a foot tall.  He said those were for riot control.  He and his staff have used that overseas when needed guarding people.  I'm going to stop by and get a couple of the smaller containers.  This may come handy in situations to stop a perp who has no weapon but means you harm.  good luck

i feel that unless one is willing to.make the gun a everyday or every other day factor in their life, much like a serious archer is with  their compound bow or traditional, why have one just make themselves feel safe. many other means of defensive measure to be safe out ther. im not trying to discourage those that want one . but id be more afraid of thos people.out that have a gun on them and pull it cause their afraid
than not haveing one at all if a bad situation occures

Good points Boar. A lot of the class the instructor talks about how to not get into the situation in the first place. How to be aware of your surroundings and how the weapon is the last resort. Because like Reb said your life will becoming a big mess for a long time. The bright though is at least you will still be alive. The wife and I had talked about doing this for along time and finally took the class. Also helped that a friend of mine won a gift certificate for the class and had no interest in it. So he gave it to me. One nice thing is now when I am running bear baits and want to carry my 44 I can keep it loaded and holstered the whole time when I am driving between baits. Which I have not done yet, but the last time I did there was a big sow with 3 cubs that were getting to comfortable with me. That is what trigger me to buy the 44. Did not want to be on the losing end if I got stuck between her and the cubs. Also, there seems to be more and more shady people out there and I really don't want to be in the situation that one time when I say I wish I had a gun right now because some crazy popped a cork. The coarse in Warroad lasted 7 hours, he did a god job I thought. He also does a 2 for 1. So if you sign up, you can bring your daughter for free. I am glad we did it.
Hey look your bobber is up!

Turns out there is a dress code that goes along with free employee tickets.   Whodda thunk it.
And some nosey nellie overheard and posted the incident.
