Lee's Got a how to question.

I'm wanting to replace the carpet on my old boat trailer bunks. I know I should use 3/8" stainless steal staples. However do I need to put some kind a glue on da bunks first. Any tips would be helpful. I'm not Mr. handy Andy. The carpet has rubber backing I'm told. It will be stored outdoors year round.

Any words of wisdom (related to this project) for this first timer.

I'd use contact cement.....are sure you want rubber backing on there? That degrades with time....I'd use nylon outdoor carpet, meself....

Lee when an if you buy from Overtons get the recommended glue for the carpet.3/8 staples may be to short? If yer using a T-50 stapler it 's max lenght of staple is 9/16 use them and put em in on a 30 degree angle down every 4 inches then go back and inbetween them put staples in 30 degree up angle. That will prevent pulling out.
