So a friend of mine just told me his sow got pregnant at the wrong time of year and he has some baby pigs about 10 or 15 lbs.  He butchered one and is going to make small roasts with it.  I think he quartered it.  Well he scalded it and scraped the hair off and said they are snow white after doing that.  I told him to give me a price on a couple of them.  I want them already scalded and ready to cook.  I have seen some on Andrew Zimmers show and they do look luscious.  They rub them with oil and season them and bake them.  How does that sound for a Christmas dinner?  I will have to run this past the wife and see if she is alright with a baby pig in our roaster...   lol

It is more expensive to feed in the winter since they need more feed to combat the weather and there is no grass etc to eat.  Most like young critters in the spring and butcher in the fall so you don't have so many animals to take care of in the winter.

Have a nephew who deer hunts on a buddy's farm. They always buy a pig in the spring, fatten it up all summer and then butcher in the fall at deer season, use the pork for their sausages, lot cheaper them having to buy from the store this time of the year, The pig always has the same name, they call him or her Sizzle!
