todays top headline in the st cloud times is st clouds 5th largest employer, Electrolux, will be closing there doors by the end of 2019. they build upright freezers there  and affects 900 employees. they will move there upright freezer production to south carolina.

the employees on the floor were represented by the machinists union. i know peoples grandparents that worked there!!

I heard that on da radio this morning. Sounds like they are going to invest big money into the other 2 plants they have in the US. I think they are making the move out of high tax minny sota.

oh they have a plant just across the border! i know a gal that works there, high up in the office. they come back across the border each nite. she snivels about these people making 18 bucks an hour putting in screws as she takes home a 1/4 mil a year making sure components are were there supposed to be when they need to be. oh we have some enlightning conversations. :doah: :rotflmao: but respect each others opinion.....even though she's wrong!!!!!! :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

i believe they are owned by a swedish firm..........this gal i refered to in previous post had to go to the south carolina plant for 4-5 years........part taxes......mostly workers work for less.

she also told me those employees are crap to the people that work here in minnesota!

Had some buddies work down south in Carolina and Florida, they came back up here; said they can't get people to work hard down there, too lazy!!!

They had a washing machine plant in Webster City, Ia. that they closed back in'10 or '11. They now make 'em at a new plant in Jaurez, Mex

That's the plant just across the border. My friend said they lose alot of employees there, and it's not because they quit or get fired if ya get me drift.

Had a buddy that grew up in El Paso which is just across the Rio Grande from Jaurez  & he said it was like that bad back then. Wouldn't try it without a group of guys, even then ya better pay attention & get the he!! out before it got dark

Huumm, we got a few of their vacuum cleaners but didn't even know they made freezers?  Sounds like their Marketing dropped the ball!  :coffee:

man aint that the truth. the shop i represent in hagar city is the same way. they closed a plant in texas, opened up one in mexico. we where doing negotiations at the time. i asked them if they couldn't get the job done intexas, what makes you think they'd get in done in mexico. they came back later and said the Mexicans like buying there stuff!!!!!!! :doofus: :doofus: :crazy:

you know how many times those big power line poles made in mexico come to hagar city to get fixed>>>> a lot, and them lyin SOB's put up Mexican poles up here in Minnesota!!!!!!! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Used to have a big Maytag factory down in Newton, Ia. as well. No longer there either, that plant now makes the blades for the wind turbines. Wonder where those jobs went? :doah: Think those workers are gettin paid in pesos too?
