Had a mini MNO gatering on the lake

My son, brother, brother in law and a friend met dakids, his brother and father for some ice fishing and lo and behold, Fawkinnae crashed the party.  Amid the BS and poking fun at missed fish, we did manage to get quite a few very nice pike (26-29 inches).  As it goes sometimes, two big ones got away at the hole.  I tried to get a video of a big one coming out of the hole but had to delete it because all I got was a bit of cussing when the hook came out.

I'll give up the lake since the dnr is planning on draining it.  Poisoning the remaining live fish so the ducks will come back to the Mississippi flyway.   It's Pelican lake between Monticello and Buffalo.  Come and enjoy this firtile, big fish producing gem of a lake before it's killed.

Lime theor aint enough friken ducks fkr christ sakes,  fertile fisheries are should be wats on the protection list rivht now. Great to see the pics loks lime a great time!!

Almost forgot about the beutiful party crasher.  We had a bald eagle swoop down and pick up one of our small pike that we had laying on the ice.  Very cool thing to see.

I was there the weekend before it froze out and did very well on big pike and crappies. Such a shame they have to kill it off when they are trying to get other lakes in this state to even come close to what it had and still has.

in the back of my mind I pretty much thought that was the lake. A friend of mine yea I got friends told me the pike where going nuts out there a couple weeks ago. Might need to check it out in a week.

I'm going to give it another go today.  We caught big pike every time I've been there.  Season is winding down so fish when the fishing is good.  Might be a little cold today but it was cold last Saturday and Monday also.  I just park facing the sun and let it keep the cab warm.  I do get really cold fingers setting up and landing a fish.

question, since there draining and essentially gonna kill this lake, are the fish limits still the same? just curios, seeing there gonna kill it off you'd think they'd let it be a free for all???????????????????????

Haven't seen anything regarding a different set of laws for this lake.

  just went to the wright county GIS mapping and cant find this body of water. every count has there own way of doing it, this county seems to use alot of numbers!!!!

The morning bite turn off at 8 ish. We've gotten a few fish at noon and then a steady bite after 2 and the best action has come after 4.
