Heard an owl hooting last nite.....and noticed in the fresh snow the other morning there was a tussle. Little tracks from under my spruce tree out into the yard, then a messed up spot of fresh snow, with  "wing sweeps" on the snow...and no more little tracks.

Also saw some tracks leading out from under the deck, looks like they're 'possum tracks.

Got any crab apple trees nearby? They'd flock to the dried up ones left on my tree every March-April.
Just like the cedar waxwings about this time of year. Here they were strippin' my tree bare...

There's a small block of woods down at the end of our street, and the owls are down there every spring.  If I leave for work early, or am just out taking out the trash or something, I hear them hooting back and forth.  I always look to this as a harbinger of spring.
