Springfield Armory Severs Ties with Dick's Sporting Goods

“Springfield Armory is severing ties with Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring a group for anti-Second Amendment lobbying.

This latest action follows Dick’s Sporting Goods’ decision to remove and destroy all modern sporting rifles (MSR) from their inventory. In addition, they have denied Second Amendment rights to Americans under the age of 21. We at Springfield Armory believe that all law abiding American citizens of adult age are guaranteed this sacred right under our Constitution.

It is clear where Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, stand on the Second Amendment, and we want to be clear about our message in response. Their position runs counter to what we stand for as a company. At Springfield Armory, we believe in the right and principles fought for and secured by American patriots and our founding forefathers, without question. We will not accept Dick’s Sporting Goods’ continued attempts to deny Second Amendment freedoms to our fellow Americans.”

I hope Dick commits retail suicide by getting all political and alienating 50% of his potential customers.

Just think, now that he isn't selling ARs and ScentBlocker clothing (recall that ScentBlocker has a tag with a Gospel quote), he has more floor space for clogs, sandalwood incense, and essential oils.

And now Mossberg...

Mossberg Ends Relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods

Mossberg, the oldest family owned firearms manufacturer in America, and the largest pump-action shotgun manufacturer in the world, has issued a press release announcing it will no longer do business with Dick's Sporting Goods. It reads:

O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, announced today its decision to discontinue selling products to Dick’s Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018.

Dick's Sporting Goods will destroy assault-style rifles pulled from shelves

STEPHANIE RITENBAUGH
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

When Dick’s Sporting Goods said it would no longer sell modern sporting rifles at its Field & Stream stores following the Valentine’s Day shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school, one question was what would happen to the unsold firearms in its inventory.

Typically a retailer may return unsold merchandise to the manufacturer. But in this case, Dick’s Sporting Goods has decided to destroy them.

“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a spokeswoman told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

The so-called assault-style rifles will be destroyed at the company’s distribution centers and the parts sent to a salvage company to be recycled, the Findlay-based retailer added. The company did not say how much merchandise would be included.

The Field & Stream store in Cranberry. Dick's Sporting Goods, owner of Field & Stream stores, decided to end sales of assault-style rifles and high capacity magazines at all of its stores and ban the sale of all guns to anyone under 21 years old.
Stephanie Ritenbaugh
The new gun sales policy at Dick's Sporting Goods had backing from the Sisters of Mercy
In addition to the decision on pulling assault-style rifles from its 35 specialty Field & Stream locations, the sporting goods chain said in February that it  also would no longer sell high capacity magazines or sell firearms to anyone under 21 years old following the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Dick’s is facing two lawsuits over the new age limit on firearm purchases.

This is not the first time that the sporting goods retailer has changed its gun sale policies.

Following the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., the retailer had pulled modern sporting rifles from its namesake stores nationwide. When it later opened its specialty Field & Stream stores, it introduced the modern sporting rifles to its product line there.

The company did not comment on what it did with the firearms it pulled from its Dick’s stores in 2012.

Haven't bashed Dicks in a while...

Between all the vendors who won't sell there and the buyers who don't want to buy there, they might as well shut their gun counter down.

Hogue Inc. Removes Dick's Sporting Goods as Authorized Dealer

https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2018/6/12/hogue-inc-removes-dicks-sporting-goods-as-authorized-dealer/

Hogue Inc. has announced it stands with its industry partners and has removed Dick’s Sporting Goods and its subsidiary Field & Stream as an authorized dealer of Hogue Inc. products. Dick’s Sporting Goods recently made the decision to halt sales of and destroy their inventory of modern sporting rifles. They no longer offer standard capacity magazines, and now restrict the minimum age of rifle buyers to 21, contradicting the Federal law age of 18. Additionally, Dicks has hired lobbyists to argue further gun law restrictions which will directly impact law- abiding citizens’ 2nd Amendment rights.
