So a farmer calls me up and asks me to trap some beaver for him.  I was super stoked because it's only 3 miles from my house.  After scoping the area out I find what looks like a great spot.  Lots of castor mounds and a nice tight pinch point.  Only problem is it's close to the Luce Line (public walking path).  It's about 15 yards off of the path.  I checked from the path and couldn't see my trap so I set the spot.  I caught a black beaver 4 days in a row.  Best spot I've ever trapped.
On my way home from work a get a phone call from the conservation officer.  Apparently someone was fishing from the path and saw a beaver swimming by and they wanted to get a closer look so they followed it as it swam down the shoreline and under the bridge and right into my trap.  My hidden trapping spot wasn't a secret anymore.  The officer checked my set and said everything was legal and that my set was hidden pretty well.  So today I went to check my traps again and I find my trap pulled up onto the bank.  It was still set and very dangerous.  I called the officer right away and reported the trap tampering.  Why do some people think they have the right to infringe on my rights?   I reset the trap and as I was leaving I saw a beaver swimming alone the bank so I hid and watched a big 50 pounder get smacked.  Number 5 in 6 days. Season ends on the 15th.  I will continue to trap this spot as long as the fur doesn't start slipping.

I hear ya. Everyone thinks they can stick their nose into others business and decide what's best because trapping, hunting, or keeping animals is "Cruel" . Just like the knobs that let all the mink loose in a mink farm near here. Because they were pen raised, they all perished in the wild. Yup, they helped the mink a lot. Same thing. Keep yer damned nose and opinions to yourself, unless you know every bit of the situation you've encountered.

There are at least 3 active lodges on the lake. Beaver are a renewable resource.  Has to be easily 20 mire beaver swimming in the lake.  They are doing a lot of damage.

People don't realize just how bad beavers can fudge things up, nor understand how prolific they are.

Sucks for sure.  Next they will get themselves nipped in the trap and then really raise a ruckus.

Went to check and make sure the trap was still set.  It wasn't set anymore!

It had a 60 pound black female in it.  I was shocked that I got her.  The girls usually don't venture to far from the lodge.

Good job DK.  That pisses me off too.  Dumb asses, way too many of them.  They should try to pet a beaver and see how cute they are.......

Well Thats KOOL gettin the beav. The Luce line through the cities. I learned long ago if people have access to anything Yer bound to be screwed with leaving anything on or near a trail. So I'd imagine that trail has hoards a people this time a year.I say set a trail cam up for evidence of tampering but that would probably be stolen anyway??? a No win stituation Good Luck get em all!
