Boat lift canvas

I'm getting ready to put the boat out and I am wondering if I should treat the canvas on the lift with something after I wash it off.  9 years old but still looking OK.  I thought maybe Armor All or something would give it a little more life.  Any ideas?

sorry, never had a lift. wouldnt someplace near ya that sells lifts and docks have ideas??????

22 years and never did anything but replace it once...

Canvas Craft said to wash it with car soap and then spray it with Lemon Pledge.  Took 3 cans.

She told me it has bees wax in it.  It really has paraffin in it.

Good to know Tom.  We haven't treated ours either, but always on the lookout for something that keeps the swallows from building underneath.

Never done anything to ours either & it must be ~ 20 years old. It's starting to show it's age though so we've got a new 1 waiting to go on. Not much trouble with swallows nesting under ours.

Wow, 20 years? What brand canvas are you guys buying? Im lucky if i get 10 years. I think mine is a shoremaster or shorestation, or something like that. The biggest problem I have is the thread that holds the cords and hooks seems to disintegrate and they are starting to fall off. Also I can see a lot of pin hole. I get this giant bird that likes to sit on top of the lift, I cringe every time I see it, because I can only imagine what kind of claws it has.

Ours is a Hewitt lift, the closest dealer when we bought ours was in Bemidji. Had to replace the cable this year & seen 1999 stamped on the gearbox of the winch. Lots of pin holes too but where we attach the sides is good, it's more the straps & snaps that attach the middle of the canopy on ours. Seems like the gulls & 1 blue heron that likes ours, sometimes. Some around us can't keep the birds off theirs.
