:reporter;  Man fined fur bait violation! :tut:

7/12/18

 :reporter;  ....
A Minnesota man has been fined for a bait violation. :tut:
William Nielsen of Sauk Rapids pleaded guilty and was fined $1,500 for illegally bringing live baitfish into Ontario, said a news release from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Court papers show that on April 6 Canada Border Services Agency officers at the Rainy River port of entry contacted Nielsen and conducted a secondary inspection of his vehicle. During the inspection, officers located seven dozen live baitfish in a hidden compartment on the vehicle.

 :drillsergeant: ...
Conservation officers with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry were contacted and their investigation revealed that Nielsen had transported the live baitfish into Ontario and was bound for a fishing trip on Lake of the Woods.

  ..
The ministry reminds the public that importing live organisms can threaten aquatic ecosystems by introducing invasive species, and transmitting pathogens such as parasites, viruses and bacteria not native to Ontario.
For further information on fishing regulations, please consult the Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary, available at ontario.ca/fishing.

To report a natural resources violation, call the MNRF TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667 toll-free any time or contact your local ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). And visit Ontario.ca/mnrftips to view an interactive, searchable map of unsolved cases. You may be able to provide information that will help solve a case.

Do minnows cost that much more in Ontario that you feel the need to hide 7 dozen in a secret compartment?   :bonk:  :doah:

Why would someone do something that stupid?  Did he have a load of ash firewood too?
It's not like they don't sell minnows in Canada.
