Personally, I would've liked to see 'em use Hockenson in that spot. Maybe even have him fake like he's going to block & throw him a quick screen instead.

Truth be told...  I think Mullins got lucky on that last touchdown to Addison.  He was going down and that had interception written all over it.

He's got to figure out how to get rid of the ball quicker when coverage breaks down so he has time (and strength) to launch it down the field and out of bounds - so he doesn't have to deal with fumbles, interceptions, and intentional grounding.

More stupid INTs when they are in the red zone will have him back on the bench in short order IMO. For instance, Mullens’ second-quarter interception that he tossed into the lap of B.J. Hill while being drug to the ground was a poor decision that has been deemed one of the worst interceptions of all time. :banghead: Found that here: https://heavy.com/sports/minnesota-vikings/nick-mullens-kevin-oconnell-nfl-news/

It just goes to show you how hard it is to play QB in the NFL.  Its easy for us to say he has to cover up and take that sack, but in the heat of the moment, their brain and their body is on a page of their own.

It is finally time for them to put Hall in for the rest of the season.  Mullens is there for emergencies and won't be with us long.  Give Hall a shot and see if he is another Purdy or even close.

I agree. It's not going to be Mullens or Dobbs. Lets see what Hall can do. There could be 10 QB's taken in the first round. Get one if Hall isn't the answer. Sign Cousins for another year or 2 and get a first round choice ready to take over.

Trouble is, they ain't out of it yet.  They still have between a 47.5 and 55% chance of making the playoffs (depending on who is doing the figuring).

We may disagree who the starting QB should be, but from the Vikings perspective, I think they are still obligated to play the guy who gives them the best chance to beat Detroit.

How's the schedule go, Lions, fudge ( packers), Lions? We could easily play the Lions first round, that's if the vikes  make it that far. That's alotta Lions in a short amount of time. I'm with you guys,  give Mullins another start but keep Hall up to speed ..

The best ones are able to mentally slow the game down because they understand what is probably going to happen on both sides of the ball & are then able to adjust. That is why being able to quickly read defenses well is often a game changer. Many of the younger QBs struggle with that, at least for the 1st few years.

The OC shares part of the responsibility on some those INTs too, as he needs to be in his guy's ear telling him that they probably have points now as long as they hold on to the ball.

I'm sure the OC and coaches are in his ear.  I have to believe - with subs exspecially - their heads fill up fast when you tell them too many things to remember.  At some point you just have to trust them, let them play, and live with the good and the bad.  That's why they are subs.

Mullins might get better with more game experience.  Some guys take advantage of their opportunity when they get it, and never look back - becoming starters.  And other guys demonstrate to the league why they were 2nd stringers in the first place.

For as much as we love Case Keenum around here, he still hasn't become QB1 for anyone.

"Did not practice" could be dinged up veterans resting after a rough season.  Hopefully some of them will be ready game day.

 I think Hunter, Mattison, & Phillips will probably be ready to go but I'm not so sure about Murphy & O'Neill.

The refs gave the Lions a present, too, with that roughing the passer call on Patrick Jones.
