I think Darnold is better now then when we played the Lions earlier.  I sure hope so anyways.  The whole team is better now.

Unless the staff sees something we don't,  I just don't see them trading away the future franchise QB.
Kwesi's first major decision!  It could go either way.  He/they most assuredly had a plan when they paid Jefferson and drafted McCarthy.  Can they recalculate and add a franchise QB1 salary without losing the rest of the pieces that made them good?     Football IS the ultimate team game.  It will be fun to see what he does.

They are better now, but they are still playing Vikings football.  For weeks - as they've been getting out to leads - I've been waiting for them to bury their opponent, but it just hasn't happened.  When they need a sustained drive to run out the clock - too often its been 3-and-out.  Meanwhile, the Lions offense could not be stopped by the 9ers.  They Vikes just don't seem to have that "unstoppabillity" in them - or at least haven't shown it yet.

But that's what makes this game so interesting.  Can the Vikes finally shred the Lions defense the way the 9ers did and again have their defense do what they've done all year:  bend, but don't break and generate turn overs?

Daniel Jones update could signal Vikings’ savvy move at Giants’ expense

The Vikings waited until the very last week of the regular season to potentially activate him, ensuring they’d be eligible for a compensatory pick if Jones signs elsewhere in free agency.

Kwesi is playing chess and the Giants are playing checkers.  By activating Jones, the Vikes look to get a compensatory pick if Jones signs elsewhere next year.   :bonk:  Of course, there may have some other financial considerations for the Giants cutting him instead of keeping him.  That is, the Giants might not have been eligible for the compensatory pick if they cut him after the season, because he was not a free agent and still under contract.  Still, bully for Kwesi for making something out of nothing with just the stroke of a pen.

And who knows, anything can happen in football and Jones may be called upon to play a role for the Vikes the rest of the way.

This has been frustrating to me as well, but I read something interesting about this on the team website.  Once the coaches believe they have a lead big enough to win, they switch to more basic plays on offense and defense in order to prevent putting more complex schemes on tape for their next week's opponent.  No idea whether it is true or not, but it is an interesting theory.

I'm thinking they won't hold back going forward,  sure they could have buried teams earlier in the year, but after Sunday it's pedal down or go home.

I wondered (and hoped) about that myself.  KOC does seem to know how to call plays.  And on the other side of the Great Lakes, Dan Campbell seems to use everything ever week - and so far both approaches have been working for both teams.  This one is for all the Tostitos!   :happy1:

I heard that on KFAN and it sounds like a good game plan to me.  SO far.

Pro bowl is a joke. Always has been, always will be. I don't care if they play flag football or checkers I'm not watching.

What are they even thinking????  Do it after the Super Bowl.  And no coaches should be able to make deals with other teams until after the Super Bowl also.

Question...  Was the Lion's Defense playing rope-a-dope with the 49ers in a meaningless game last week only to make the Vikings think they could have their way with them this week - and then find out that the Lion's D is completely different and rejuvenated against the Vikes?

Surely Dan Campbell was playing the starters, but were they playing a base defense to lull the Vikings into self-assured complacency?

It'd be just like the Vikings Offense to run up against a Lion's "buzz saw" Defense after their defensive sieve performance last week.

I am hoping for a good game.  I think it will be close of course and the Vikes pull it off.

No, there is about 75 miles of tape at this time of the year. Short of being shut out everything Detroit does or can't do is on tape and been viewed. They didn't find out 4 hours ago that this was going to be a big game. They've been game planning this one for a month.

 They usually have 1 trick play that they haven't used all year that there's not much tape on but that's probably about it. They tried a fake punt in the 1st game too & neither of those plays worked that time. :happy1: So, I sure hope Flores has his guys ready for those again this game. Getting a couple stops when they go for it on 4th down would be nice to see too. :cheerleader:
