2018-2109 ice and fishing reports

pretty quiet yet on this topic. post what youe seeing and hearing.

i drive by locke lake just south of hasty on 94 pretnear every day. its usually the first lake that is completely iced over. this year the geese and swans are keeping the middle part of the lake open.

hearing horseshoe has people fishing a bit on it.

not hearing much yet about up nort. last i hear was 3-5 inches but sure its more by now!!!!!!

West Rush in Chisago County, the main basin just froze over yesterday evening.
I didn't see anyone out yesterday, but folks are testing the ice by the landing.
There were some cracks by there, that had water coming up.

So, I'm gonna wait a little longer to be safe..............

I see the northern fishers are out on Baudette Bay.  A porty and some guys out on the ice.  My neighbor called and he is coming over to my place this weekend and we are going to punch some holes.  I will be 15' behind him and I said this year we are using a rope just in case.

Took a cruise around the horseshoe chain. Not alot of activity, there was a flipover off the point near the meth hole, 2 guys where out in the bay by the long lake access by browns lake. Also a fishhouse out there. You could see people drilled holes around the island off the winter access as well as the shallow bay across the road.

Well I thought the river was froze for good.  Had a couple of holes open yet but no big deal I thought.  I just came in from outside and looked out the window and those holes quadrupled in size.  All of the ice is dark like water is over it.   Oh Oh.  Be careful.  Always go out with a fat guy.

Correct. And take a long pole. No, not to rescue with, but to prod the fat guy further out ahead of ya.

what i just seen on another site is simply mind boggling!!!!!!!! no not a picture of boar with fish or a big deer, but...........somewhere in the branierd area a guy took a picture of 2 vehicles on a lake with w ice castle type houses., that is just plain retarded!!!!!!!!!
