I read about the Ashby Coop Elevator Manager stole 4.5 milliion in the last 15 years.  He took off once they found out.  Hasn't been seen in 3 months.  Suspect he may have left money in another country when on a hunting trip.  Man did he hurt a lot of people.

I musta missed this story when it was first reported.

Funny, this guy steals millions from hard working farmers - and there is no outrage.  Where are the pitch forks and torches on this one?

Ashby is close to Alexandria.  Small town of 440 people.  So it is a Coop.  The farmers are sort of the owners and their grain is not in the elevator any more and the bank needs to get paid.  Bad Bad deal.  As he was acting like their friend he was selling their grain on the side evidently.  It was in the Star Tribune yesterday.

For a while I was concerned that this guy was a criminal mastermind genus who had a plan to spend the rest of his life in Belize.

It turns out he is just a bloke who succumbed to temptation and got himself in a heap of trouble.

UPDATE:

Ex-Minnesota elevator manager pleads guilty in swindle

https://kttc.com/news/2019/02/14/ex-minnesota-elevator-manager-pleads-guilty-in-5m-swindle/

You'd think you'd see this more often than you do.  Criminals get caught red-handed all the time and they all seem to plead not guilty in the hopes of getting off on some technicality.  If it was me, I'd rather confess and hope for the most lenient sentence possible.

They will never see most of that money.  He only has so much to sell and it won't even come close to what he took.

Just like civil suits in manslaughter, et.,  deaths...why even have them? Person is locked up and supposed to repay millions...ya, like that's gonna happen. Always thought those were a friggin' joke.

Ya I agree Rebs.  Never made sense to me.  Unless he goes and embezzles money from someone else to pay back his first victims.

Only people who come out on these deals are the attorneys. Who are most of our lawmakers?

Well, he got 8 years..... :happy1:

https://kttc.com/news/minnesota-news/2019/06/21/ex-minnesota-grain-elevator-manager-gets-8-years-in-swindle/

Shoulda asked for a change of venue to Rochester.  He would have gotten 5 years probation and had to pay $500 restitution.

And, if he said he was from a diverse country and didn't understand English, he woulda
received 30 days home confinement in his free habitat house.
