A friend or just sad to see a man pass while doing something he probably loved? And sad for the wife that found him that way. Now I'm sad...

That is sad. But, that's the way I want to go, doing what I like instead of laying in a nursing home somewhere waiting for the end.

I don't know about you guys, but I often don't think about how much my wife worries about me when I'm out there doing the things I love to do.  Very sad.

Ya that is sad.  We aren't as young as we used to be.  I remember fishing on Sunset Lake north of Stillwater when I lived there.  These 2 guys had made a real nice fishhouse.  It was smooth aluminum siding and had nice aluminum strips connecting the pieces.  Looked great.  I drove right past it to get to where I like to fish.  This house was there every winter and it was always the two guys together.  One Monday morning at work this bulletin comes over the TV and it showed that fish house.  They had a non vented heater and they died from it with a lack of ventilation.  I will never forget it.  It was their wives that found them when they didn't return home.

My friend and neighbor (by my property) has a trailer on the back side of his property. The group usually stays there while hunting.  On the last Saturday of the season, one guy didn't go out hunting and when the others returned my friend found his brother in law dead in his bed.  He then had to call his sister.

My wife often mentions this when I leave alone for my land.  I usually tell her when I plan to return but often can't tell her where I plan to be.  I usually leave a note at the cabin where I plan to be but that doesn't help much if they don't look for me for a couple days.  :pouty:

Pretty sure Mrs. Cheviot just looks longingly at the life insurance policy... :bonk:

And yes glenn, if you went out with those fishing gals guarantee you would die!  :rotflmao:

Sad the guy died and I feel bad for him & his family. But when yer number's up, it's up. I could (a) drop over out in the feedlot or (b) get hit by a ram, break a hip and freeze to death. Then people would eat scalloped potatoes.  :happy1:

If I'm out alone, I send my GPS coordinates by phone to a buddy - even if he is on the other side of the state.  That way if the unthinkable happens, someone will know and no one will have to search.

Steve-o,
Guess what with todays phones, and locators, I'm guessing half the country knows your exact location right now.
My problem is I often leave the phone in the truck or cabin.  :tut:
