I went out to Phelps Bay on Sunday afternoon and fishing was pretty good.  First of all, there was over 2 fee of ice so there was no problem driving out.  I didn't think my auger was ever going to get through the first hole.  We fished from 1:00pm until 8:00pm and there was maybe 3 minutes in that whole time that there were not fish showing up on the flasher.  During the day it was pretty much all smaller sunfish with a crappie and perch mixed in, but as it started to get dark the bigger crappies moved in and we caught a bunch of them.  I lost count of how many fish were caught, but it was a bunch.  If you have a kid that you want to take out that is a good spot, but bring plenty of waxies, all of the crappies were caught on a minnow though.  I hope no one thinks I am giving away a secret spot because there were plenty of people out there and it's not hard to figure out where to setup your house.
