i always find it interesting to hear what people did for employment before they got to where they are today. join in if ya want, if not  :moon: :moon: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:............i'll start.

my very first paying job was mowing lawns. i did 2-3 lawns in town. after my uncle went off to college i inherited his 3 lawns on the horseshoe chain.
my second paid job i helped out a resort on the chain one spring getting ready to open up.  da brother and I also got into the worm selling business being close to the horseshoe chain.
my first job paying into SS and taxes i got a job in 9th grade working at a feed mill, grinding feed and throwing 50 and 100 lb feed sacks around i did that until i turned 18, the sept following graduation.
my 4th job, after turning 18 i got hired at the cold spring granite company, and for 3 1/2 years i worked in different capacities polishing the granite markers/headstones you see in cemeteries.
in the spring of 97 i started at DCI in stcloud where i spent the next 28 years welding and building stainless steel vessels for the food, pharmicutial and beverage industry. of those 28 years there i was involved in the union as a steward for 24 of those years.
the past 12 years, as most know, i have been employed as a union rep with the boilermakers union, with my official title as assistant business manager. my job discription is negotiations and contract maintence along with other duties as required. i am responsible for the 8 shop contracts in our jurisdictional area.

so lets hear your career path!!!!!!!!! :happy1:

First job was as a paperboy, high school was at little caesers pizza and Kmart. After high school I worked in a forging mill for a year. Went to tech school and I got an associates degree in mechanical drafting and an associates degree in architecture drafting. First job after that was in the engineering department of a plastic injection company doing all the quoting and some design as well as training all the QC inspectors. I left there after 10 years and went to another plastics company doing prototyping and quoting. Left there after 10 years and got the coffee shop. This is probably the best thing I’ve done, going from having $20 million plus worth of projects and deadlines on my desk to would you like cream and sugar in your coffee. Yes there is stress in owning your own business but nothing like working for someone else and all there B.S.
if you kick me when I'm down you better pray I don't get up.

I spent 40 years working for an airline that no longer exists in the clerical ranks.  I had a good career at Northwest Airlines and now am enjoying my retirement.
Towards the end of my career, I was a shop steward with the IAM and now am still involved with our retirement group and attempting to help the flight attendants organize with that union.

I worked off shore in the Gulf of Mexico for Shell doing hurricane damage control on the oil platforms.  Welders helper kind of thing.  Worked with divers there too.  So I went to the Commercial Diving Center in Wilmington CA to be a diver.  Fun deal but never got a job doing it.  They tried to get us to go overseas to work for big bucks but also big dangers.  SO I got in the Public Works water field.  Water Treatment Operator.  Did that for 20 some years.  Managed a horse stable for about 4 years.  That was fun.  Bought a wheel house business and made fish houses for 6 years and then moved up here and was lucky to get a job with the County to add to my PERA and now am retired.  Did lots of other jobs as second jobs and in between these and learned from each one of them.  Met lots of good people and some not so good people.  Definitely a positive experience.

Since GT got this back on track I will hop in too. I started out like Glenn mowing lawns and working for some house framers here and there during my school years. After high school I went to work for a framer. Learned a lot from him. Framing houses is what I wanted to do with my life. I lived in Rogers and had to drive down to Chanhassen every day. I got really tired of fighting traffic everyday. Especially on the way home. My Uncle worked at Spancrete in Osseo which was only 7 miles away. So after a couple months of fighting the traffic I went to work at Spancrete. There we made prestressed concrete. Mostly parking ramps. When I started there they were building the parking ramps at the airport. I work there for 4 years. After we finished the parking ramps at the Mall of America 3/4 of the people were laid off. That was my 2nd time getting laid off from there. I was 22 and decided to go pack to school then. I went to school for Tool and Die and Mold Making. I really liked work on the CNC machines in school and before finishing school I went to work for a shop that built stamping dies part time while I finished school. They were buying their first CNC mill and I was going to be the one to run it. I worked there for 13 years and built it up to 4 cnc mills and 2 shifts and 6 guys running them. I was da one in charge. Then in 2006 the wife and I decided to make the move up north. Been here at Marvin since. I program and run 2 cnc mills and 3  3D printers. My main function is making prototypes for the R&D department. I don't think I could ever move back down to the cities. Boy that got long winded. Sorry boys.

my first paying jobs were; being a caddy at the golf course for awhile, then stock shelves at a 5 & 10..  from there I was on a clean up crew for a meat processing plant and also worked at the old Imperial gas station.  did some finish work for house construction too..  this was all during high starting at age 14...  then after high school I tried college, while still working at the gas station, and did not care for that at all..  so I went into the Marines for 4 years.  got out and went to work with my Dad selling wholesale frozen foods to restaurants and such..  did that for 13 years until the USDA job as a meat inspector came up and I retired from that after 26 years...  never took one day of unemployment either, not sure if that is good or bad......  I can't argue with where I ended up in life...  probley other little jobs in there but that's enough...
