My brother in law bought a new 2019 Ford Ranger Pickup yesterday.  The dealer took his 2014 F-150 in trade and sold it to me for what I planned to pay my brother in law.  Simple maneuver saves a lot of taxes.  Today I "gifted" my 2003 F-150 to my son who in turn is selling his 1997 F-150 to a co-worker.  This is just like a kidney transplant chain. 

My "new" F-150 has a mere 43500 miles on it

With a Chev you would have had to use the 2019 to haul all the rest to the scrap yard!  :rotflmao:

Looks like everyone got a good deal, Way to go!!  good luck.  I bought a 2008 Dodge Ram Hemi last spring with only 120,000 miles on and very clean inside and out.  Has been running great since the day I got it.  good luck.

No offense but the ranger is old school  a more truck size wise check out the new chevrolet colorado.just a thought.(with a v-6 or diesel,4 cyc is under powered.)

Seriously????!! Old school???! Ya might wanna do some readin' up. Nothing old school about it. I had three. The new ones a mile apart, from the new frame to the 2.3 EB and 10 spd tranny, which, by the way, is rated the best powertrain on the market in a mid-size truck.. These would have eaten my 4.0 liter Ranger for lunch.
The Ranger with the EB is underpowered?! Not! My cousin has a 'rado, and it's a pooch. The 2019 Rangers I've driven, including my neighbors new one, would eat his 'rado for a snack.  But, whatever works for ya. ;)

The 2019 Ranger's 2.3-liter EcoBoost can haul up to 1,860 pounds, tow up to 7,500 pounds and generate 270 hp and 310 pound-feet of torque.  Closest competitor, the Chevrolet Colorado, has a towing capacity of 7,000 pounds and a maximum payload of 1,772 pounds with its 3.6-liter V-6.

Ya CAN pull 200 lbs more than the Ranger, IF you opt for the Diesel engine in the 'rado. Just not on my list in a mid-size, though.

The Ranger they have at I Falls at Wherley Motors is really a tough looking little truck.  I think it was a dark blue.

The Ranger they have at I Falls at Wherley Motors is really a tough looking little truck.  I think it was a dark blue.

I'm always anxious about considering a vehicle in the first year they update the design - and in Ford Ranger's case, it has been 8 years since they built one.

Maybe its a home run and Ford got everything right out of the chute.  Maybe not.

Well, I'll be dipped in...  They have been around (world wide) all along (below).

My question is this.  Why did Ford exclude this truck from North America for 8 years?   :scratch:  That doesn't make sense to me.

And now they say North American vehicles are sourced in Wayne Michigan.  Ford started making them there last November.  Now I don't know diddly about squat - especially cars - but that doesn't seem to me to be much time to work the bugs out of an assembly line.  Or maybe they produced a lot of trucks while the process was ongoing.

Ford's reasoning  (I think) was the market was the big trucks and SUV's that were booting the top sales. Then they found out how much folks missed the Ranger...(I sure missed all of mine) so they brought them back, since they were already in production. Also, they need to drop a few lines, like the Taurus, and Ranger. Just like Chebby is now dropping the Camaro in the next three years, due to poor sales..and to slack back on production costs....

Yeah, but...  When you see so many Colorados and Tacomas and even Ridgelines on the road, you have to think Ford misjudged the market.

I'm sure their high level marketing strategy was tied to closing the St. Paul Ford plant.

American truck buyers would NOT have warmed up to the fact that their favorite light duty truck was no longer being made in the Northland, but rather in Rayong, Thailand.

I just wonder why it took so long to move American production back into Wayne, MI while Chevy and Toyota dominated the market.

I think becuz it was just a truck plant....Toyota produces a variety of vehicles at one plant.My truck came with a a "Proudly built in Dearborn truck plant", built with rouge pride" sticker on the back window. (plant is along the Rouge river) Also has a UAW seal in the middle of the emblem.....

Went out with my buddy a bit ago in his new Ranger and put it thru the paces.  Man, does that thing go!!! What amazed me, is when that 10 spd tranny shifts, you don't even know it; can't feel it shift. JUst smooth, full power comes on with no turbo or boost lag. I love the thing! Plenty of room for me to stretch out, and a ton of headroom.
I need one....... bad!  :cool:

Just the money. Mr. Sparkles is still new with 25G mile on him. I like saving my money.
I want a '67 Vette with Rochester fuel injection and Halibrand wire wheels too, but Mr. Sparkles will have to do...... :sad:
