Quick Question fur ya?  I have ta jack up da boat trailer wit boat on it ta remove one tire. Need ta replace da inside carpeted board in wheel well. It was missing when we got back from vacation. Would you recommend leavin da trailer attached to da car or unhitch when jackin it up. I'd be easier ta leave it attached ta da car but don't want ta damage da Tung or ball.

Yer gonna use a floor jack, right? Block opposite wheel of one being jacked up, and if ya have 'em, use a couple jack stands along that side of frame, one each on frame on outside (opposite ends) of floor jack. Frame twist can be notorious on boat trailers, depending on what ya have...
And, I replaced my outboard keel rollers while buddy took boat out, I had parts and tools along, and did it right there in the parking lot. Easy-peasy.

How heavy is the boat?  What is the trailer rated for?

Yes, what Reb said.  I'd be worried about bending or twisting something.

If it's just a new bunk board and carpet. Get it all ready. Bring the boat to the launch, tie it off on shore and replace in the parking lot!   :happy1:

Da trailer is from 1997 and it's my smaller 16ft vacation Lund boat only used once a year fur vacation to Ely. I don't live near any lakes. It's a 3hr drive round trip to the lake I guide on. It's gunna be a bitch ta do dis wit da boat on da trailer since ders no room between da inside of da fender and da boat :doah:

Ive done it before wit da larger lund after launching it.  Dis smaller boat is already set up fur winter so goin ta a lake is off da table :embarrassed:

Tanks fur all da suggestions boys. :happy1:

I would unhook it from the truck so you aren't binding anything.  With that small boat it should be no problem.  Yes block the tire on the other side.  Go slow and see what happens.  Although I don't think it would hurt to leave it hooked up neither.  May be safer that way.  No different than changing a flat.

So it cant be a bunk your replacing carpet it on since your jacking up the trailer,  I'm not seeing what your doing with carpet and a board in a wheel well . Not used to this set up. Takes some pics Lee..

Maybe he doesn't know there isn't supposed to be a board jammed up in the wheel well......

:rotflmao:  I do remember some wheel wells on trailers that had a plywood piece covered with carpet piece that seperated the boat from the wheel.

if you jack at the spring or the axle you only have to lift the wheel a couple inches to get it off.  Not gonna spring the trailer with something that little.  be like parking with the wheel on a hump.

OK...OK :doah: Here's what I'm talkin bout.  When ya drive on da boat to da trailer da carpeted protector board guards aginst da boat hittin da inside a da fender and scrachin da boat. When it's a very windy day and da waves can blow yer boat crooked dis prevents damage.

Here are  sample photos so you can picture what dis part is......

Boat weight is 812 lbs. 80'' beam. Not counting da motor and gas in tank/stuff in storage compartments.

Interesting thought  but don't like da unknown risk factor! :tut:

Wrap a strap around the boat and lift it using a chain hoist hooked to a big branch of your tree.   :sleazy:

Dat trailer is from 1976 and to remove da bolts I would have ta lay under da boat trailer wit an 16' clearance and a blow torch ta get um unbolted  Also Borgie would have ta call 911 ta remove me from under da trailer at 74 yrs. old. :pouty:
