I made the lamp 10 years ago and started but never finished the walking stick. I also made shooting sticks for my dad.  He liked them so much he refused to take it out hunting.  I dont have a picture of the shooting sticks.

Great minds thing alike dakids, here are a couple diamond will pieces I made with my dad. We, well, mostly him made quite a few canes walking sticks and poles that were turned into hat and coat poles.  I did the selecting, cutting and hauling and he did most of the cleaning and shaping.

Looks like brush in low lying areas.  Usually found at swamp edges where alder grows.  Often has multiple stems from main root system.  Many stems die and decay fast so you need to harvest live stems for best results.  They have leaves similar to regular willow brush but they develop the diamonds in the wood from branches that died back years ago.  Cool stuff.

I'm not good at spotting it from a distance, but I have run across it from time to time and recognized it.

I think I may have it along my driveway where I haven't cleared.  I know it is willow brush.  Have always wondered if it is the right thing.

While out in the woods yesterday I found this huge live diamond willow.  I will cut it later and see what I can make out of it.  Rarely do you find a live one this big as the main stem usually dies and other shoots grow around it.
