About right! :rotflmao:
I hunted from a stand in a patch of woods where all of a sudden I'd see big yellow horns in the thicket slowly swaying and my heart would start racing.  I'd bring my rifle up, zoom the scope in, and it turned out to be a clump of thick, tall, bent-over grass.

Next year, same thing happened.  Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me.  Fool me three times, who's the idiot?    :imstupid:

It did happen again the third year, and I finally figured out that at a certain time in morning, sunlight would filter thru the trees and light up that same patch of grass, that making it look like big, yellow antlers thru all of the sticks. :doah:

( :oops1:, I realized I prolly already told this story on this website.)  :embarrassed:

I was sneaking to my stand in the dark one morning and I saw a huge rack so I just kneeled down and waited.  As the sun came up I see this nice plum thicket.  Was not a deer.  LOL   I did tell my buddies about it too.

I feel bad for folks who never got bona fide hunting experiences.  They'll never know what something like that feels like, and why we get up the next morning and do it all over again.

i'd be  :bs:'ing if i didnt say i had an experience like that.  but it was middle of the day.  i've hunted from this stand for many years so you get to know the surroundings pretty good.....no anterless tag, no snow on the ground.  i seen what i thought was a deer standing in a bunch of young saplings, thick stuff. i had my scope on it 5-6  times, wasnt sure it was the body of a deer nor could i make out the head. :pouty: in what seemed like an hour all of a sudden it walks away!!!!! :bonk:

and i sure as hell wasnt going to just shoot at something i thought was a deer!!!!!! :tut: :tut:

      A somewhat humorous story. Now.
I was out with my chainsaw cutting up an old box elder that fell last year. I also cut down a couple of smaller trees that were just in the way. I wanted to mark the stumps so I wouldn't hit them with the mower.
I went to my shop and found an old can of red paint. No cheap brushes handy so, I grabbed some of them blue, paper shop towels. It gets better.
I slather the paint on the stumps and, apparently, on me. A very messy project. My wife comes out to check on me since she heard the chainsaw stop. She sees me, down on one knee, red paint all over my lower leg, boot and hands. I think she panicked a bit. Bless her heart.
Once I explained things and assured her I was just fine, she called me several bad names. I can't repeat them on a family friendly forum but you probably get the idea. I gave her a big hug to calm her down. Then she yells at me for getting red paint on her almost new farm jacket.
      I just couldn't win yesterday.
I used to be cute and adorable. Then, I had my first birthday. Been downhill ever since.
