hey fish, i was in the canoe club.
1-89 to 1-95.  I was a MM (machinest mate) nuclear designation.  stationed on the USS TEXAS CGN-39 and the USS NIMITZ CVN-68.  a couple of west pacs including the first gulf war and too many "short 59 day " outings doing drug counter ops down the coast of south america.  did you know that if you are out more than 60 days it counts as a deployment and then they have to keep you in homeport for a certain amount of time?  that's why we went out for 59 days at a time.  Boy, just talking about this brings up old memories of Manta, Ecuador... THE armpit of south america.  i was e-6 select when i got out.

MadBoBo,

Did you get to go to R & R at Cheju Island and do the mountian repelling?

Nope wanted to, decided to do some R & R in in Seoul. Rented a high class hotel and a high buck call girl, got me some gambling in and decided to rent a car from enterprise and drive around Korea a bit.  I am half Korean, Dad was in the service in the 60's and met my Mom there.  they are still together.  Being half korean myself but 6 ft tall....the Korean chicks luved me long time!!! It was an adventure driving the car around.  it was a deawoo Mayepsy about the size of the smallest car you can think of.  My legs were in my face.  I drove it to see my family in Bup Yung and Wee Jung Boo.  took it back up to the 2nd ID and almost got busted with it. Lucky I had a hooch I rented near by that I stored it at for the week I had it.

I want to go back soon but my wife says she won't let me leave here sight.  dam....I just want about 20 minutes (well at least 7 min) of fun and re live some old memories.  yould think she would be a bit more understanding ....go figure.

Had a vested interest in a small bar in the Ville called the heavy metal Bar (original huh? it was my idea) I went in to it with my korean girlfriend at the time. I left it all to her when I went home.  It was fun and I didnt make any money but I did get some cool fringe beni with a few of the gals that hung out there. I supplied the booze and the tables and chairs and the stereo system. I only have one thing to say.  Ya gotta love what you can sell a carton of smokes, booze or maybe the occasinal contraband electronic for on the market over there. Had to pay for my fun somehow.  those were good times man....good times! LOL! 8)

65-67   2/22 Mech. Inf. 4th Div.   A little story about my induction. When I went for the preinduction in October 65 I told them if they wanted me before deer season they would have to come get me. Well the day after deer season I was sworn in and on my way. The day before deer season in 67 I landed in hibbing once again a civilian..
