Raven, the star of our show, is gone.
At age 13 and a half, the famous black lab, the third Raven sidekick for Minnesota Bound’s Ron Schara, passed peacefully as burning sage and Indian Flute music played in the night.
Since February of 1995, Raven—wearing her signature red bandana—has appeared twice-weekly on our television show airing on KARE 11. In addition, Raven was also featured in Schara’s T.V. productions on Fox Sports North, ESPN, and Outdoor Channel Networks.
As the most famous dog in Minnesota, last year Raven was enlisted to support legislation making the Labrador Retriever breed the official State Dog.
A special Raven Memorial episode on Minnesota Bound will be airing Sunday, April 12, at 10:35 p.m. and Saturday, April 18 at 6:30 p.m.
So -- we've come to the end of the Raven lineage -- as all were related, mother-daughter.
Is there an unrelated Raven in the future? Doubtful but maybe… after our tears dry and our sadness fades.

So sad,our pup's /family lives are way to short bums me out reading this as my 7 yr old retriever is graying already, last week my boy had a seizure then again last night, its a helpless feeling when it happens as you can only watch in horror and try to comfort your pup,we're not sure what or why this event has started but I started him on a new bag of milk bones called "sportmix" which might be the link so my vet diected me to the U of M who directed me to a toxicolgist in mich who directed me to the FDA,I want these milk bones tested, pup before my Duce ate these same bones had grand maul seizures so bad I put him down at 18 months some seizures lasted 45 minutes the back to back seizures,no easy feat whether old age or 18 months still pulls on the heart strings when you make this dicision, then my 3rd down the line passed at 10 yrs from liver failer again ate these same treats so 20 years of this bs now the light came on,pups litter mates are just fine, hoping for the best

Yup, sad to hear about Raven. I hear ya too snow. Ruby will be 10 in April. Sometimes she acts like it, others more like a 2 year old. Hasn't lost her goofiness. Know the clock is ticking tho.

When a family pet goes over the bridge a family member is gone.  That's how I see it.  I don't think of my Lucy as a dog.  She is very special to me.  I have went through loosing past family members [I'm talking about pets] and it has been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with.  My Lucy is 8 years old and getting grey.  Chocolate Lab.  Folks that loose their furry family members go through a tough time.  good luck.

My black lab is 14. She isn't what she is to be but I ain't either. She is still happy and has what I consider a quality life. She is a smaller lab and has a lot better wheels than my last one. It will be a very sad day for me when we part company.

Sammy our yellow lab is our 4th yellow lab.  He is 12.  Has always been a wonderful dog.  Now we have to help him up on the deck once in a while to get him back in the house.  Time is getting short so we do a lot of hugging around here whilst we can.

we had to put my chocolate lab down last oct..........it still sucks.........yea we've looked a bit where just not ready. besides with the sheltie being 12 years old we dont think the age differences between her anda new pup would work to well.. i'm already dreading the day when we have to make a decision on the sheltie...........

Oh ya...  Gets me every time too.  My brother had to put down their 12 year old Golden, Leinie...  Great dog. Very friendly and good hunter.  My Sammy, yellow lab is the same age.  They played as puppies.  Well Sammy is getting pretty stiff.  Weak in the back end too.  Just a shame that they have to get old.  Or us too for that matter.

Always so sad.  Breaks your heart.  I've been through it.  My Lucy is 9 years old.  I give her that Dinovite stuff you hear on the ads and it works.  But today when I had to get some shopping done Lucy tried to jump into the cab and she didn't make it all the way and on the way down her rear leg got caught between the step and the truck and I thought she was going to break her leg.  I was reaching to help her but somehow she got her leg out thank God.  She normally gets in fine but from now on it's the ramp I bought   good luck.

Went thru that with Scruff. He could no longer get into the truck, so I had to carry him and put him in there. I think he knew as he watched things go by, where it was headed.
But he went with me everywhere, even on that last day. To do his favorite thing, park at the lake, watch the geese, and eat half a hamburger I'd get for him at McDonalds.

Took Ruby to the vet today for a heartworm checkup & to update some shots. With COVID-19 protocol it seemed weird to hand her off to the vet tech then wait in the truck. Ruby went willingly. After they brought her back out I remembered a small lump I'd found on her left side. They wanted to take her back inside but she wasn't having any of it until I reassured her it was OK. Had a discussion on the phone afterwards with the vet. Likely only a sebaceous cyst but something to keep an eye on. Otherwise Ruby's in excellent shape. For a 10 year old dog she doesn't look or act like it. She can still jump in & out of the 3/4 ton but that day will come. In the meantime I'm going to enjoy the ever loving $hit out of the time we have with her. When we got home we shared a bag of popcorn & watched Judge Judy.  :happy1:
