Store Safety Update

As we navigate this constantly changing environment, the health and safety of our employees and our customers continues to be our top priority.

The entire ALDI team is working around the clock to keep our stores clean and stocked. We are installing protective barriers at checkout and making gloves and masks available to associates who would like them. We have added social distancing signage across all stores and increased the frequency of cart cleaning.

As part of our continued efforts to ensure the well-being of our employees and customers, we are introducing additional safety measures in our stores.

New Store Occupancy Limits: Effective Thursday, April 9th, we will limit the number of people inside our stores to approximately five customers per 1,000 square feet.
To be certain these limits are followed, we will have team members stationed outside each store cleaning carts and keeping track of customers as they enter and exit.
We will admit shoppers into the store one at a time. We may enforce a brief delay between customers to allow for adequate space between customers as they enter.
We will be allowing any medical professionals, with identification, immediate access to the front of any lines that may form outside our stores.
If a line forms outside our store, we kindly ask our customers to stand at least six feet away from the person in front of them and maintain that safe distance throughout their entire shopping experience. Our team members will help remind shoppers of this as well.
We kindly ask customers to limit their shopping to one person per family. We recognize that may not be possible in certain circumstances and will make exceptions for any customer who needs to shop with children, or assist a vulnerable shopper.
Temporary One-Way Aisles: Inside the store, we will be rolling out one-way aisles to better manage the flow of traffic and help our customers maintain social distance from each other and our team members. In-store signage will direct shoppers through the store.

Temperature Checks: Over the course of this week, we will begin taking the temperatures of our store and warehouse employees. In addition, we will have them answer a few basic health screening questions before reporting to work. Any employee with a fever of 100.0 or higher will be sent home. Employees must be free of all symptoms for at least 72 hours before returning to work.

Customers can find additional information about the safety and hygiene measures we've put in place in recent weeks on our website.

We want to thank our customers for their continued support while we work together to keep everyone safe.

Well, planning to be back at it on Monday. We're deemed "essential" because of our relationship with farmers & food production. I voluntarily kept us out of the office the past two weeks as it simply wasn't worth the risk of getting quarantined, sick, or making someone else sick or worse. Handled a bunch of phone calls but that's easily accomplished. Am aware of some of the circumstances surrounding the situation in Martin Co. I know some of the people involved so glad I did what I did. We're not very essential to anyone if we're sick, quarantined or dead.

We can stay away from people for most of the time soil sampling, assessing stands on alfalfa & checking planting depth when they start planting so that should help minimize our risk. I won't be hanging around the office for lengthy amounts of time. Get in & get out. If you need something, call, text or email me. Never know when someone making a delivery might unknowingly bring the bug into the office & set the whole process in motion.

May 4th better be the end of it though. This putting the whole country on hold and the economy can't go on all summer. People need to work. Walz said something about our peak being in July. Not going to be doing this all summer. The fricken cure is worse than the virus at that point.

There was an extended interview with Bill Gates on CNBC this morning & he estimated that it would be the end of May before the economy starts to open up again. They asked him what his normal day is like these days & he said he's talkin to a lot of the people who are working on the testing as well as those who are workin on a vaccine too. He's getting calls from a lot of states govenors & even talking to heads of some foreign countries. Other than the ones out there wearin the PPE all the time he would be 1 that I think knows what's goin on.

Yep, I agree. That is why we have been doing it for now. But I don't understand how going to the grocery store is so much safer than going to work. That is where I don't understand the logic. I think they also need to use the next 3 weeks to figure out how to open things back up. Yes social distancing is still going to need to be practiced for a long time to come. Bars and restaurants will be the trickiest, but I think they have the smarts to come up with something in the next 3 weeks.

Agree or not, more stores should do what Aldi is doing.  There are some that say there are people just walking around their stores without any intention of buying anything.  I go in, get what I need and get out.

I do think a number of stores and businesses could be open with a limit to the number of people in the stores.  That means someone manning the door cuz we all know how boneheaded people can be.

Only prob is, gonna be issues down here. And you know how I really like ALDI.
We have a lot more people, and these are such tiny stores. There's usually a crowd waiting to get in as it is. Usually 25 or more people in the store....so that means some will now be waiting outside. I understand what they're doing, but I'm not gonna try to stand in a line (I can't anyway) outside a store for a few items. I also don't agree with their policy that ANY medical staff with ID gets to go to the head of the line, that's just not right. If they're grocery shopping, they're not at work...and we're all doing our part.

yes I hear ya Reb, and I do understand  it..  I guess we are lucky here, we might have to wait a time but I don't think it would be real long unless they had one heck of a special on some thing, then it could get ugly....  a person might even have to change shopping times...  I really don't know the answer...

When I went last week, there was a big crowd as it was waiting to get in....and they had to slow folks down and try to keep them apart. You have a lot of people, you know it's gonna happen. Most of the stores here have been complete zoo's as it is.
And I applaud them for what they're doing, but it's not gonna work everywhere.

Just read that the grocery store here that is a pretty good store for a small town has the workers wearing masks now and they have plastic shields at the checkouts to protect the checkers.  That is great.  In today's paper they said to come later in the day since so many people are getting there when they open in the morning.  The wife went to the dollar store yesterday and she did wear a mask.  That will be mandatory for us now.
