so what is everyone thinking about plans for thanksgiving with this covid crap????  i know its hard not to make this political and its not my intent. my wife and i are throwing this out to the kids to get there feedback, so far 3 of 5 responding with go for it. mt daughter has to work that day, so.......

i read and hear on the news it might be a tough next 6 to 12 weeks, with cases rising.... :blablabla: :blablabla: :blablabla:. wisconsin is already wanting only 3 people per household and it wouldnt surprise me if our gov, tim jung walz does the same thing. mind you at the moment there just asking.

i finally got it out of my wife yesterday she's a bit gunshy about this too. its her  :happybday: today and i've wanted to go down to the local pub for a few beers and a burger to celebrate both our birthdays and my retirement. i'm not gonna push her so....i guess we will stay home.

SSDY here. Me, Mrs. Cheviot & Ruby. Start with tincture after chores. Get smoker boxes loaded up. Have another tincture. Fire up the coals ~ 10 a.m. Have more tincture. Coals ready ~ 10:30. Put bird on. Have a Bloody Mary. Baste turkey in ~ 1/2 hr. Have a G&T. Baste bird in ~ 1/2 hr. Take its temp. Another G&T. Baste one last time. Another G&T. Take bird off. Have a G&T to celebrate. Carve turkey after it stands ~ 10 - 15 minutes. Feed Ruby some giblets. Have another G&T. Eat. Take a nap. COVID? What COVID?

Our family is scattered across the US. The closest thing to a family Thanksgiving we've had was 8 or 9 years ago when my brother and his wife & her Mom came up to the ranch. My Mom, Mrs. Cheviot & Ruby were on hand as well. We usually just cocoon as she's normally coming off of the NAILE & I'm so sick of people in general that I could spit tacks!  :azn:

We usually had a big family gathering at my brothers but I'm sure that's probably off for now.

I'm not sure what we're doing....but, I think it will be as usual....The kids will come home, and we'll cook my spring turkey.

But, plans change....

We are just staying home and making a 10 or 12 lb turkey and dressing just for us.  We are staying pretty safe and our relatives are a long ways away and we don't want to do an overnight thing.  We have actually done it alone for a few years.  We have a great time too!  JB, that is a great idea to make sausage on  Thanksgiving.  I have some ground pork and beef I need to link!

It used to be wall to wall people on the wife's side in grandma's house, since they past roughly 10 years ago everyone kinda trickled off and started doing their own thing. That's alright with me, so I'm sure it'll be the 4 of us and 3 pooches.  We'll see the others a few weeks later fir Xmas...maybe.

Remember when we were all kids? Big family gatherings for every holiday. All the kids running and playing outside. Tons of good food.

Seems those days are gone for the most part. Traditions mean little anymore. Kinda sad.
