That's right.  We with a conscious pay the most.  From Republican plans and Democrat plans the middle class still pays to keep the country running.

Speaking of having a conscious. If we could get some of the 50% living on EBT and Welfare to grab a shovel.
Maybe they could help us in the middle dig some of the shat it takes to run this country.  :surrender:
At least the 1% provides jobs at their companies that employees a large portion of us middle class folks, while 50% only takes it away!
Leech, what's the matter with you. :tut: :pouty: making sense and posting sensible solutions. :sleazy: :rotflmao:

I think you might be reading the chart wrong. The way I see it on the right side of the chart is that the top 1% is paying by far the most taxes. What you see on the left side of the chart is the percentage of tax payers. Not what they are paying. Am I seeing it wrong? It has been said for the longest time that the top 1% pays about 70% of the taxes in the US.

And gets the least from the government. Lower class gets welfare and the upper class get corporate welfare. No doubt that the current system is set up to make the rich richer at the expense of the shrinking middle class.

Thats an old tired saying. The middle class isn't shrinking at the expensive of the rich, who needs to employe them. The middle class is shrinking because the left keeps making it easier for them to drop out and live on welfare for more vote  freebies. 🤫

Yes, Comrade that is was has been said since the beginning of Marxism and Socialism who with all the talk of fairness for all, are run by only a few at the top living well. How are those models of great humanity doing again?  :coffee:

I don’t know— if I were in that 37% tax bracket, which starts at somewhere north of $600,000, I think I’d be pretty happy. Much more so than the 22% bracket I’m in now. I’ll pay taxes on every additional dollar I can get my hands on.

Also, as far as job creators— if my multi-millionaire boss/company owner gets a tax cut, I’m pretty sure he’s not cutting me in. And he won’t be hiring more employees or expanding the business, so it doesn’t really help the greater economy.
Ok, I’m ready to be crucified.

Start your own company. He's taking all the risks and you get to walk away to the next company if his fails.

And if he has an established company?  He still gets the benefits of a corporate tax break with no need to pass it through to employees. I’m not saying that he doesn’t deserve it, only that the well worn axiom of it will benefit the working middle class is not a universal truth.
As for starting my own company, I would certainly consider the tax implications.

I really doubt we will ever go the flat tax route for the following reason
Tax Credits.

•   Earned Income Tax Credit – For employees
•   Child and Dependent Care Credit – For those taking care of a dependent
•   American Opportunity Tax Credit – For students pursuing higher education
•   Lifetime Learning Credit – For education expenses and job training
•   Advanced Premium Tax Credit – For helping low-income earners afford health insurance
•   Savers Credit – For low-income earners who contribute to retirement plans
•   Adoption Credit – For parents who adopt a child
•   Child Tax Credit – For those taking care of a child
•   Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled – For those above 65 or are permanently disabled
•   Foreign Tax
•   Dependent Care Credit
•   Miscellaneous Credits:
•   Residential Energy Credit
•   Qualified Plug-In and Electric Vehicle Credit12
•   Mortgage Interest Credit
•   Health Coverage Credit
•   Prior Year Minimum Tax: Individuals, Estates and Trusts Credit
•   Credit for Tax on Undistributed Mutual Fund Capital Gains13
***I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.***

Excellent post, Deadeye. While I don’t agree with the theory that is the basis for some of these credits, many of the credits are an effort to insert some standard of fairness/compassion into an unwieldily system.
Some are abused by the people that unfairly benefit from them. I think that’s inherent in an imperfect system that we live under.

There is no perfect governing system run by man, in this world. Never has never will. Any examples?

I agree with you, Leech. No perfect system. Ours could be better if the leaders spent more time getting something done, and less time on getting re-elected.

Which is why I dream of a flat percentage rate tax. Everyone would pay the same percentage across the board. And the idiot still won't fix anything with his tax hikes. He will just hurt the small business the most and send the bigger companies over seas thus putting people out of work.

To piggy back off this. Here's what some of all the Freebie's actually cost for 50% folks.  The last line is reported Fraud. But they like to call it Improper use!  How are they going to help pay their fair share of the Flat tax deal again?

What percentage of the money spent on military contracts and other contracts with major corporations would you attribute to fraud?

Another thing you may or may not realize is that a large portion of those who fight and give their blood for our country come from that 50 percent of the population you and other elitists seem to disdain. I guess they can't pay doctors to say they have bone spurs.
