well........according to google.....which sent me to the MNDNR, they eat mice, chimpmunks, squirrels, snowshoe hares and even deer fawns. they also eat dead flesh from other critters as well as nits and berries.....they dont really eat fish according to the DNR!

WOW! that's very rare D.E. thanx for sharing,as stated they are meat eaters, very ferocious critter like a mini wolverine, had one encounter with one in my lifetime, nasty beast snarling and growling. This guy turned on me when I opened the trap, almost got my boot,I was sitting on the passenger side of my buddies truck when I released him,I reached down to lift the gate,as soon as he seen daylight he came out and turned on me ungrateful some beech, funny thing was we thought a racoon was getting in to our cabin's garbage cans when we set the trap,"Surprise"

You're little guy look's more like a pine  martin tho, same weasel family just much smaller than a fischer, just a guess on my part.still a great picture.you must have camera's everywhere.

I've heard similar stories about releasing fishers from live traps - snarling, nasty beasties.

And they are rare.  In all my years of deer hunting, my dad saw an adult fisher once, and my daughter and I saw a juvenile fisher once.  It looked like a big squirrel with cat ears.  Lucky for us it kept its distance.

Could be a pine martin but still looks more like a fisher to me due to it's size.

D.E. survey says "pine martin" as they have various color phases, the snout and ears, size lean towards the martin, none the less great photo and thanx for sharing your photo's always a treat with all the critters you have roaming around on your property.

I agree Martin.  Fishers get pretty big and long too.

You guys are most likely right, it's too small to be a fisher. However, the picture below
may well be a very big fisher.  :rotflmao:

I changed out my trail camera cards yesterday and the camera I had on my mineral block was interesting.  I had 800 pictures of turkeys pecking on it over the past 3 weeks and then a bear came and ate the entire thing in two nights.  I'm guessing he ended up with a stomach ache, or at least needed a BIG drink of water when he finished!

Maybe the bear ate it because it smelled/tasted like turkey?
