 So, if it's really not good for the long term health of it's members the leadership of player's union should come out against it. But who tells the NFLPA what to be in favor of & what they shouldn't be in favor of? I believe they call it their Executive Committee along with their Board Of Player Representatives which each team has a active player elected to. I think there's even 2-3 players on the Executive Committee that are still playing too. If they agree to play another regular season game, what do they ask for in return? https://nflpa.com/about/nflpa-officers
i dont disagree with you Gunner.....the decision will come down to the players agreeing.

i still think its a money grab........ :surrender: for mybe both sides but more so for management.......like Goodell!!!! :doah:

I'm sure preseason games suck for veterans, no one wants to get hurt in one, but they are relatively easy games.  Whether there is 3 or 2 or 1, they serve a purpose for getting young players full speed evaluation.  Starting players play in them less and less these days regardless of how many there are.

I'd say...  You want 18 games?  Don't dicker about the number of preseason games.  Increase the percentage of the players' split of total NFL revenue, increase the salary cap, and increase the size of the 53 man roster so there are more players to cover 18 games.  Oh yeah, and while we're talking...  How about improving pension benefits?!?  Or better "back benefits" for guys who played in the league before the most recent collective bargaining agreements?

League management ain't goona wanna give away that much.

The league don't need more regular season games, they need a longer season - for more TV revenue.  Add another week to the regular season schedule, give each team an extra bye week.  And I don't care what they do with the preseason games.  Problem solved.

I say put one more team in the playoffs - so every team has to play the same number of games.  None of this playoff bye garbage. :oscar:

Why should only ONE team get a bye in each conference?

Actually, I know why they still do that.  Superior teams have star players, and the NFL doesn't want those star players gone from the playoff because of injury or a first round upset loss.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has already stated he favors expanding the regular season by another game. Now, NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell says the players’ union is open to an agreement before the current labor deal expires after the 2030 season. Inevitable, it says here: https://apnews.com/article/nfl-schedule-expansion-18-games-lloyd-howell-921dd978cd9a7b0837e41b15ac4f6318

I think 18 games has been the goal ever since they went to 17.  Just finally ready to implement it.  We will adjust to anything if given enough time.

So the Rams won last night.  I see Deebo Samuels dropped the game winning catch for SF.

And Carolina sucks.     So we want the Lions and the Eagles to lose today.  Wish one was the early game.

:happy1: Josh Allen put on his Superman cape & said here I come....................see if you can stop me. But the Lions couldn't, as the Bills only punted once.

The onside kick that the Lions tried with 12:00 left in the game that the Bills WR grabbed off a big bounce & then returned to the Detroit 5 yard line was the difference in the game IMO. As the Bills scored a TD on the very next play.  A little too aggressive...............maybe?

All the talking heads like to tell us that the Lions are where they are because of Dan Campbell's aggressiveness.

Even with the Lions' loss to the Bills, and regardless of who wins the last few games of the season...  if I had to bet an amount of money that meant something big to me, and I had to bet on the Vikes, the Lions, or the Eagles to go to the Superbowl - right now...  I gotta say I'd go with the Lions.

But yeah..  prolly a little too aggressive.   :azn:

Hold that bet.  Just out: Lions RB Montgomery out for season with knee injury.  From CBS Sports.

I wouldn't bet $5 on the Lions making the Super Bowl. Good teams are going threw their defense like water threw a strainer. Campbell knows he has to gamble because short of a turnover his defense can't stop anybody.

The Lions lost their best DL, McNeill(DT), a CB, & a LB on their defense yday too. The CB has a fractured jaw while the DT tore his ACL, so they're both done for the season as well. Sources told ESPN that Montgomery is out indefinitely after suffering a torn MCL during Sunday’s 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills
