So, with Deshaun Watson rerupturing his Achilles tendon... will the Browns and Stefanski go out and get Kapt. Kirk as a bridge to whatever comes next?

I gotta believe Watson is done in Cleveland.   :moon:

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is out after five seasons.  I wonder where he'll land.

I'm not surprised they failed to reach an agreement on a new contract in Dallas.  Now both ego guys can save face.

From the outside it seemed Jerry Jones had a love/hate relationship with McCarthy, and ya gotta believe McCarthy is happy as all get out to be leaving Dallas with the roster in such a mess.

I would think working for Jerry could be stressful.  Zimmer sure flopped as the D guy there this year.

I didn't even think of Zim...  Does Jerry make Zimmer the next head coach?   :bonk:

That is what some thought would be the natural progression but after his debut as D coach I don't think he impressed anyone.  He is too old in his ways for players now to respect I think.

And what should he be caring about football right now anyway...   :sleazy:

You've heard of checkbook baseball? Could this be checkbook sex or maybe just eye candy to have on your arm?

I'd need to see the copy of the pre-nup.

Hey, Jerry had a small role in Landman last night. He came across as a wise, caring, mentor-type guy. On, yeah. I just remembered that’s acting. Never mind.

Jets hire Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as new head coach

Glenn, one of the top coaching candidates this offseason, accepted the role of the New York Jets head coach on Wednesday, becoming the first former player to return as head coach in nearly 50 years, according to ESPN.

I was wondering why he would want to go there.   :rotflmao: :bonk:

Ain't many head coaching jobs in the NFL. If you haven't been a head coach and you get offered you take it. Get a coaching resume' and maybe you can choose where you go.
Be thankful Glenn took it, Flores was likely next on their list.

It's not final yet, but Jaguars are expected to hire the TB OC, Liam Coen, as their new HC.

There was all that steam about how teams should try to trade for Tomlin.  Where is the love for McCarthy.

I know he ain't on the trading block as a coaching candidate or anything, but I heard an interesting nugget about Matt LaFleur.

No coach has won more games the past five years than Matt LaFleur.    That's sayin sumptin'

I stand corrected.  It could have been an NFC-specific stat.  Either way, LaFleur has been gettin it done in Green Bay with and without Erin.

Pete Carroll to the Raidas as their next head coach.    :doah:  I don't know nothin about nothin, but I'd rather have McCarthy than Carroll.  Maybe McCarthy didn't want Las Vegas.   :coffee:

There is quite the saga regarding how Liam Coen Tampa Bay Offensive Coordinator ended up getting the Jacksonville job.  Tampa wanted to keep him, Tampa met his salary demands to remain the OC as the highest paid OC in the league (by a long shot), but he took the 2nd interview with Jacksonville anyway, and ultimately accepted the job.  I'd be pi$$ed if I was Tampa.

Part of the Jacksonville saga required secrecy - because even though they were honing in on Coen - they hadn't done all their "Rooney Rule" interviews, and if word slipped out Coen was the front runner, the minority coaches would have cancelled their interviews.  No wonder Flores wasn't hot to go out onto the interview circuit.

The pc I read about Coen getting the job tried to explain some of that but..................I think.  But they didn't do a very good job, so I had no idea what they were talking about.
