My local gun clubs near white bear lake minnesota "Bald Eagle Sportsmen club" (B.E.S.A.) Maple island gun club and Wild Wings gun club have shut down due to lack of ammo.... this effects many in our shooting community, these clubs are smaller private clubs but is worrisome none the less, making a call this morning to a much larger  public club this morning located in blaine minn I've shot at since the 60's(metro gun club) hopefully they're still afloat.

FYI....

When did this happen?

I just went out to the Bald Eagle web site.  There is no mention of closing down.

Couple friends that shot spring league said they closed for the summer, maybe that's for non members? are you a member?,I suspect if you are you have a gate key, just need a friend to pull targets and load the house...and have ammo,I  haven't herd the guyz shooting pistol's lately either, as I live just down the road from BASA..

Metro gun club is still open, they have both small calibur ammo and shotgun ammo available as well, pretty sure they're pistol range and 3-d archery helps with the overhead at metro

This is what I found on basa's website...
JUL 3 AT 12 AM CDT – JUL 9 AT 12 AM CDT
Range Closed to all Firearms

just closed over the 4th ....week off.

No worries, Leech.

Snow, I am not a member.  I'd like to join a club someday, but with no ammo, it doesn't make any sense.

Its really crazy when you hear about all the gunfire, shootings, and murders that happen in big cities like Mpls and Chicago, etc.

It really is turning into the wild, wild west.

I bought ammo from a metro gun club distribitor directly when he came to the club with a semi full of ammo, back in my trap shooting days 10,12 ,15k practice rounds throughout the summer months, good to have connections over the years many times, they came up from iowa, metro tells me now over the counter ammo sales for shooting rounds only, friend with a sporting goods shop tells me his ammo orders from last summer are still waiting to be filled, maybe by fall but no guarentee they are told.

The big lie is "so many new gun sales" folks buying up all the ammo during these troubled times" is just B.S,who really knows?everyone ,every gun shop, gun range has an opinion, fact of the matter manufacturer's are not producing, the end.

steve-o I'm not a member at basa either but shoot there often,it's a $1 per round more but still alot less per round compared to big public clubs, example Horse n Hunt club in prior lake get's $25 per 25 rounds on sporting clays, metro gun club non-member is around $15 (5 stand) non- memeber 25 rds, basa last time I shot was $6/per 25rds,so a great deal to have some shooting fun, challenging targets too.

been years since I  shot at forest lake gun club but they had good rates back in the day.

Sis got 6 boxes of 9mm for her youngest in GR at that place on Hwy 2 that you like so much. Guy in front of them got 6 boxes too, not sure what caliber that was though. Pretty sure it wasn't cheap. Niece lives over in Del & Reb's neck of the woods & hasn't been able to find anything there for ~ a year. Hardly room for another vehicle in their lot when we were leavin town on Tuesday too.

:happy1: They had a big "We have ammo" sign out by the road so they have enough that they feel they need to advertise.

I don't know what they are charging, but if'n its $30/box or more, they are going to have it on the shelves for a while.

At least I hope folks don't buy ammo at high prices.  The only way prices will come down is if consumers refuse to pay.

I was forced to buy one box of 20 gauge shells at a high price for varmint control. Then I found a friend that had extra so I got another box from him.

:tut:  I think  that's what they paid, $30/30 rounds, & it was flying out the door 6 boxes at a time. What they got was a target load, is what I was told.
