Always is an experience good and bad but whatever happens it makes for an interesting day.

with my new house build on hold in Chamberlain Sodak right now spending more time with my dad at his senior care home, tough old fart, tough times, after our visit yesterday morning decided to kill a few hours fishing with my birthday boy Duce,he turned 9 years old,he was having a ball chassing minnows,I  was having a good time shore fishing/catching nice sized gills at the boat landing on big marine lake, after about an hour dang if I didn't get hung up in pencil weeds and broke my line,it happens,so headed to my vehicle to grab another jig and was surprised by a big ole black bear, felt the hair on my neck stand up as he was 10' away and could careless I was standing there,I  froze rock solid thinking of jumping up on my truck just when big boy turned and headed back in the woods, thankfully my pup was still in the lake otherwise thing's could of got interesting in a hurry.

Agreed glenn about black bears afraid of us....but in the heat of the moment one doesn't have time to think rationally, survival mode kicks in,cubs didn't cross my mind at the time...

Living in alaska having more than my fare share of bear encounters(and moose) it never get's old it's always a "holy shete" moment only in AK it was grizz or coastal browns.

Found it interesting this guy was roaming around at noon 30,guessing he was looking for snacks from fishermen left behind and or dead minnows they chuck when loading they're boats up.

After having been stalked and confronted by a couple bears a few years ago, I no longer think they will always run from you.
